Programme note:
Drottningholmsmusiken (The Drottningholm Music) is the popular name of the music by Swedish composer Johan Helmich Roman. It was first performed at Drottningholm Palace near Stockholm on 18 August 1744 at the royal wedding of Crown Prince Adolf Frederick and Princess Louisa Ulrika of Prussia. The wedding was celebrated over three days, with Roman conducting the Swedish Royal Court Orchestra (Kungliga Hovkapellet) - one of the oldest orchestras in the world.
