Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.931349

Arranged by Julian Manjarres. Blues,Jazz. Score. 3 pages. Julian Manjarres #6420693. Published by Julian Manjarres (A0.931349).

I can confidently say that as of the present moment, this is the most accurate and readable transcription of this tune you will likely ever find.
I had initially transcribed it by ear, and my viewers and friends were so amazed by the accuracy of it that I eventually followed their advice and made a sheet for it.
It was painstakingly transcribed from the original iMovie audio file, with the exact chord voicings, comps, and melodic lines you would find in the original with practically no exceptions. It is an incredibly fun arrangement that will acquaint you with many of the advanced melodic and harmonic intricacies of the jazz idiom.

Enjoy!

SATB soli, SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download

SKU: MQ.1.3429-E

Composed by David Ashley White. 10 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3429-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3429-E).

English.

The great English author, Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936), wrote the poem My Boy Jack during the early years of World War I. The poem quickly came to be identified as Kipling’s lament over the death of his son John, who was killed during the Battle of Loos in France in 1915. However, it is just as likely that the poem is a tribute to all who were lost during The Great War, and to those who mourned them. In this setting, the composer casts the forlorn questioner not as one person--a grieving parent--but rather as a mixed solo quartet, representing everyone. The harmonic language in the poem’s first three stanzas is intended to portray the sorrow and angst that Kipling’s words so effectively convey. In the last stanza, however, the tone of the poem suddenly changes, becoming more positive and resolute: Then hold your head up all the more, this tide, and every tide… To reflect this shift, the setting uses a quasi-English folksong style, one that is more lyrical and direct. Duration: 3:30.

Composed by Claude Debussy (1862-1918). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 20th Century,Romantic Period. 6 pages. Cypress Publishing #1034275. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1455189).

This lovely short work was composed by Debussy in 1910 as number 8 in volume I of his Préludes for solo piano. The texture and harmony are more simple and straightforward than most of his other work of the period, and it opens with a memorable melody, likely the reasons for its enduring popularity. A quiet and gentle piece, only once does it rise as high as mezzo-forte, but only for one measure before returning to piano

CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites.

The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

Composed by Ernst Sachse. Arranged by Charles Vernon. Romantic Period. Score and part. 24 pages. Gordon Cherry #647718. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1043020).

Not much is known about the origins of the Concertino, except that the three-movement work was most likely first written and performed by E-flat Cornet in the mid-19th Century by Sachse himself. Since that time, the work has been edited for Trombone and Bass Trombone. Along with the David Concertino, the two works are great examples of German Romantic solo writing for the brass family. Charles Vernon has arranged an excellent sounding edition for Bass Trombone or Tuba and Piano of about 12 minutes in length for advanced performers.

SONATA No. 1 in A MAJOR

SONATA No. 2 in E MINOR

SONATA No. 3 in D MAJOR

Written for 2 equal instruments these sonatas bring pleasure to players of intermediate standard and above whilst developing their independent playing skills. Each sonata has 4 movements slow and fast alternating in the same key.

The six opus 8 sonatas were published in Paris in 1725 for ‘deux Flûtes-Transversiere sans Basse’. They were published ‘Avec Privilége du Roy.’ They were printed as a playing score preceeded by a title page which also gave details of where to obtain copies - L’Auter, Le Sr. Boivin & Le Sr. Le Clere.  A copy of the Privilége du Roy.  granted by King Louis on March 22nd 1724 was printed in full on the second page.

It is highly likely that the sonatas would have been played by pairs of oboes or violins or possibly by bassoons or cellos according to the players available in the homes of the wealthy amateur players who could afford to buy music.

The flute parts were printed in the soprano clef - with G on the bottom line. This would have been convenient for flute players who often also played bassoon when required and were often not keyboard players. This edition uses the modern bass clef and has a score plus separate parts to facilitate page turns.  In editing the sonatas the  presentation of the music has been modernised.

SKU: A0.1258043

Composed by Guillaume de Machaut, 1300-1377. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 38 pages. Jmsgu3 #851281. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1258043).

1. Kyrie
2. Gloria
3. Credo
4. Sanctus
5. Agnus dei
6. Ite missa est

Guillaume de Machaut composed the Messe de Nostre Dame, also known as the Mass of Our Lady, in the early 1360s. He wrote the mass for the Cathedral at Reims, where he served as a canon, a permanent clergy member. According to a rubric found at the Cathedral, it would have likely been performed for the Saturday Lady Mass.

Guillaume de Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is significant in the history of music for several reasons:

  • It is the first complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer that has survived.
  • It is a unified mass, meaning that the composer selected relevant chants for each section as the borrowed tenor.
  • It was composed in four voices, which was unusual at the time.
  • The texts of both Gloria and Credo are quite lengthy, and therefore Machaut set these movements in a style reminiscent of the earlier discant style, having short phrases, similar rhythmic motion in all parts, and a low ratio of notes per syllable of text, both ending with long, rhapsodic sections for the final word, Amen.
Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is a landmark in musical history, but it is far from being avant-garde merely for the sake of uniqueness. It is considered to be a culmination of the musical style of the Ars Nova period, which was characterized by complex polyphonic textures and rhythmic innovations. The mass is also significant because it was composed during a time of great political and social upheaval in Europe, and it reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during this period. Overall, Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame is a significant work that represents a culmination of the musical style of the Ars Nova period and reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during the 14th century.

The mass consists of five movements: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei, followed by the dismissal Ite, missa est. The tenor of the Kyrie is based on Vatican Kyrie IV, the Sanctus, and Agnus correspond to Vatican Mass XVII, and the Ite is on Sanctus VIII. The Gloria and Credo have no apparent chant basis, although they are stylistically related to one another. The mass is a unified mass, meaning that the composer selected relevant chants for each section as the borrowed tenor. The Messe de Nostre Dame is significant in the history of music because it is the first complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass by a single composer that has survived. It is also significant because it was composed during a time of great political and social upheaval in Europe, and it reflects the changing attitudes towards religion and music during this period.

Overall, the Messe de Nostre Dame was an important part of the liturgical practices of the time, and it is still regarded as a masterpiece of medieval music and of all religious music.

Caro Mio Ben (Come Once Again) by Giuseppe Giordani. Arrangement for Voice and Piano in D Major with Italian and English Lyrics. With Full Score. Enjoy it!

Giuseppe Tommaso Giovanni Giordani (1751 - 1798) was an Italian composer, mainly of opera. Giordani's parents were Domenico Giordani and Anna Maria Tosato. He studied music in Naples with Domenico Cimarosa and Niccolò Antonio Zingarelli. In 1774 he was appointed as music director of the chapel of the Duomo of Naples. His first opera (L'Epponina) was released in 1779. His sacred drama La distruzione di Gerusalemme was a notable success at the Teatro San Carlo of Naples in 1787. He became maestro di cappella at the Cathedral of Fermo in 1791. Until recently, the popular aria Caro Mio Ben (1783) was ascribed to Giuseppe Tommaso Giovanni Giordani. However, scholars now consider Tommaso Giordani, or his father Giuseppe Giordani senior, more likely to be the aria's composer.

Composed by Gliere, Reinhold. Arranged by Sauer, Ralph. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score and part. 28 pages. Gordon Cherry #3421025. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810831).

Gliere's beautiful character pieces, Six Album Leaves from Op. 51 are from a larger collection of twelve originally written for Cello and Piano in 1911 while the composer was living in Berlin. The composer most likely was inspired by Schumann’s versions which were unknown in Russia.

The pieces are full of eastern sounding melodies and exploit the singing nature of the Euphonium. Mr. Sauer has brilliantly arranged six of these for advanced performers in bass clef.

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Religious,Traditional. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #912628. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1324430).

Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song that has several interesting facts associated with it:

Origin: The song's origin is uncertain, and there is no consensus on who composed it. It has been attributed to Henry VIII, the King of England, but this association is considered erroneous, and the song is more likely to be Elizabethan in origin.
Christmas Carol: The tune of Greensleeves is used for the classic Christmas carol What Child Is This?

Lyrics: The song's lyrics are about a painful romantic problem and include what some historians view as subtly salacious content. The lyrics deal with a spurned lover accusing Lady Greensleeves of casting him off discourteously despite his love for her. The song's scandalous twist is hidden in its title, and its exact meaning has been debated for centuries.

Cultural References: The tune was used as the slow march of the London Trained Bands in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was adopted as the quick march of the 7th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment during World War I. Additionally, the tune has been referenced in literature, such as in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Popularity: In some parts of the world, the Greensleeves tune is famous as a standard chime for ice cream vans.
These facts make Greensleeves a fascinating and culturally significant piece of music with a rich history and diverse interpretations.
