Sanctus, a penultimate number in St. Luke's mass, is written on the text in Hebrew and in English. The style refers to the general sound of Middle Eastern music with the dance rhythm. The ancient origin of Holy, Holy, Holy is emphasized. The music presupposes wide use of improvisation in the accompaniment (extended refrains between the verses) and in vocal parts. With each new verse, the improvised line gets longer and more sophisticated. There is room for the competition of two singers (if the verses are divided among two of them). The ending should sound as sweet as possible.

Miserere is written as an introduction to the Confession of Sins. It is written in two languages: in Greek (Alexandrian koine) from two parts of the Holy Scripture and in English that sound simulteneously. It is modelled after multi-lingual motets of the Renaissance. The soloists, Baritone and Soprano, present their lines in a dialogue. The opening motive replicates the literal meaning of Greek word metanoeite, related to turning. The harmonic language (in choral presentation) refers to the language of Sergei Rachmaninoff (with ii4/3 resolving into V7 and V4/2 in descending motion).

This triptych is the focal point of the mass. It is written as three numbers attaca. Et incarnatus est is a set of sequences in an invertible counterpoint that ends with the transition to Crucifixus. The Crucifixus is rendered as a continuous repetition of a single tone (the B) by the baritone solo (Christ) on the background of choral responses in the late-Romantic harmonic language (neo-Riemannian, equal-division of the octave, Yavorski's Tritonal equilibrium, etc.). The bariton part is given a note beyond the baritone range. Extended techniques are welcome here. The high sopranos continue the ostinati in the background of the low piano octaves. The Et resurrexit is written as a pure atmospheric phenomenon--disappearing in clouds. The triptych ends with a quotation from the Gospel of St. Luke read by the baritone. THese three numbers can be performed as an anthem during the weeks of Lent or Easter.
