This Civil War Era tune was played as a dance called a Cake Walk. The hammer dulcimer arrangement is appropriate for Beginner 2 or Novice level players and includes a bare bones melody then embellishments are added to make an exciting arrangement for Intermediate to Advanced players. Guitar chords are included. It can be used in a historical setting for reenactment performances, but is a great piece for all general audiences. Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary or Prince of Denmark’s March sparkles all the way from beginning to end. Mr. Dunn has done a great job with this arrangement for Brass Trio of Trumpet, Horn and Trombone. The work was incorrectly attributed to Purcell for many years.

This music is very popular as a wedding processional (performed at the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana) and was broadcast by the BBC extensively during WW II during the occupation of Denmark.

The work is under three minutes in length. Parts are supplied for C and D trumpet, Horn and Trombone/Euphonium. Easily within range of intermediate/advanced performers.
