Inspired by pieces such as these I composed a tango influenced dance piece. Boleo Furia won first prize in the University of Birmingham Music Society Composing Competition 2018 and has been enjoyed by the university wind band and played at the Elgar Concert Hall in Birmingham.

Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.928181). Trilogy (for Trombone Ensemble) is a three-section work from American composer P. F. Strohm, written for the Eastman Trombone Choir. This setting of the work is scored for a 10-part trombone ensemble, comprised of two Alto, six Tenor, Bass and Contrabass trombone parts. The Contrabass trombone part is suitable for a second Bass trombone. There are also substitute Tenor parts for the two Altos. The scoring in much of the work employs antiphonal writing, using two quintet groupings to great effect. The sound of the piece is tonal, ranging from quiet contemplation to thundering assertion. It opens with a chorale-like 3/2 that lasts about four minutes, moving into a powerful three-and-a-half minute incantation, then bursts into a two-and-a-half minute dance in 7/4. Trilogy is Medium-Advanced level of difficulty owing to the Alto parts, and makes an excellent concert or contest work. Total performance time is 10:00. Member, ASCAP.

Ancient Airs (2004) for solo flute was written for and is dedicated to flutist Sandra Ragusa.It is in two movements, each with a spirit of ancient airs re-imagined in a modern context.The ancestry of the modern flute as a folk instrument is the inspiration for the work's concept.They should always be played with a lyrical, singing approach.Beyond the Mountain uses as its basic musical material a simple transformation of a modalmelody in D minor. Gradually tones are added borrowed from other modalities. The openingsection is slow and lyrical. The middle section is more active -- contrasting the D minorchord tones with the added diminished tones of the first section. The final section recalls thematerial of the opening with a wider transformation.Forgotten Incantation uses a wider modal language than the first movement. Although stillgenerally slow and song-like, it is more energetic. Energetic gestures interrupt and drive thesong narrative forwards.
