Instrumental Duet Bass Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.594293 Composed by Ernst Anschütz. Arranged by David McKeown. Christmas,Jazz,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6574373. Published by David McKeown (A0.594293). O Christmas Tree, (O Tannenbaum), is a much-loved Christmas song. This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Waltz/Swing style for one Clarinet and one Bass Clarinet. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet. The melody of O Christmas Tree is Polish in origin and dates back to the sixteenth century. The lyrics we know and love were added much later by German composer Ernst Anschütz in 1824. The lyrics were originally a homage to the fir tree, using the evergreen foliage as a metaphor for constancy and loyalty. The association with Christmas appeared later in the nineteenth century. With a performance time of three minutes and a half minutes, this version of O Christmas Tree is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz waltz style is a fun and fresh take on this familiar traditional tune. O Christmas Tree is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Rhythms are syncopated, as one would expect in jazz waltz music, and there is plenty of articulation detail to help deliver an authentic style. While the key is straightforward, there are several busy passages to keep players on their toes. The melody is played four times, the last in 4/4 time with a short coda. This arrangement is suitable for players at an intermediate level. Instrumental Duet Bass Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589302 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Multicultural,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #6022207. Published by David McKeown (A0.589302). Silver Wedding, (Die Silberne Khasene in Yiddish), is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Bass Clarinet. Jewish Wedding bands, prominent in early twentieth century New York, were well placed to take advantage of the phonograph recording revolution. Accordingly, we are fortunate to have a rich record of the musical style of the time. Silver Wedding first appeared in a 1915 recording by Abe Elenkrig’s Orchestra. Elenkrig was born in Ukraine, which may point to the origins of the tune. Silver Wedding is in a Bulgar style, a happy piece designed to escort the newly-weds from the ceremony to the feast. Silver Wedding is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in three sections; overall the tune is played twice with a short introduction and coda and with constant variations in the accompaniment. Silver Wedding is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around three minutes, this version of Silver Wedding is perfect for weddings, celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Swing style for one Clarinet and one Bass Clarinet. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet. The melody of Good King Wenceslas is Finnish in origin and dates back to the thirteenth century. The Christmas lyrics we know and love were added much later by English hymn-writer John Mason Neale and were first published in 1853. With a performance time a little over three minutes, this version of Good King Wenceslas is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz swing style is a fun and fresh take on this familiar traditional tune. Good King Wenceslas is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Score and parts. 15 pages. Phil Beaman #6204075. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845118). Pure Caribbean. Pure energy. This tune is from a West Indian carol, so it has Christmas origins, but you could use it anytime of the year when you want to have fun. The two instruments are sometimes in unison, sometimes in harmony, and sometimes 'playing tag' (alternating phrases). Contains 2 key changes, some dynamic echoes, but always with a driving island rhythm. The piano part adds power and drive to the piece.

Bass Clarinet,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314265 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Wedding. Individual part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #903006. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1314265). Saint-Saëns: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saëns permitted to be performed publicly during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the AnimalsThe Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is among the fourteen most famous movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes.Saint-Saëns BackgroundCharles-Camille Saint-Saëns 1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, include his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), and, it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list.ChildhoodIt is essential to realize that Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut, albeit at ten years old. Another critical point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then, despite reality, conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were, after all, markedly in demand - not only in Europe but, above all, in the Americas all in all as well.YouthA point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly excited about the modern music of the day. He was, in essence, fond of the music of his contemporaries, particularly Schumann, Liszt, and, for the most part, Wagner. In contrast, however, his compositions seemed, in fact, primarily confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was, at the same time, nevertheless, a scholar of musical history.CriticismOn the whole, his conservatism, in fact, ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and, in particular, the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought. A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music, contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing, he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing.LegacySaint-Saëns taught briefly in Paris, where his students included Gabriel Fauré. Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.

Clarinet Duet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040835 By Brian Buda. By John Calkin. Arranged by Brian Buda. Christmas,Contest,Festival,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. 2 scores. 12 pages. Budaful music #645604. Published by budaful music (A0.1040835). This arrangement of the classic carol 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day' (WALTHAM) is a great addition to a holiday themed school program, church service, and Christmas contests and recitals. As with any song, the lyrics are very important, even when performed instrumentally as in this case. The emotions of the poem are imitated in the music. Encourage listeners to follow along by printing/displaying Henry W. Longfellow's well loved text: I heard the bells on Christmas day Their old familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on earth, good will to men. This arrangement functions very well for both a moderately advanced solo clarinet and clarinet duet. The duet part is more intermediate, making it a great option for an intermediate level student, or a less experienced player. While the duet part has been written for its corresponding solo instrument, the duet part can be purchased for other instruments as well. Separate duet parts available for: Flute, Oboe, Soprano sax, Clarinet in Bb, Alto Sax, Horn in F, Trumpet in Bb, Trombone, Baritone (T.C.), Violin, Viola, and Cello. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891941 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Stephen Davies. Baroque,Standards. 29 pages. Stephen Davies #5362675. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891941). In this arrangement the key has been altered to suit the instruments range, and is unusually scored with an A clarinet playing the first part, which adds a little tonal softness to the upper parts (imho!). Programme Notes: THE PRELUDE The solemn and expressive character of the melody line is somewhat reminiscent of much of Bach's passion music, and weaves between the players with utmost ease. The Preludes most prominent melodic feature is the octave leap heard on all parts throughout the music, which leads to a satifying conclusion. THE FUGUE Coming in at a whopping 115 bars, this is one of Bach's longest and most complex fugues. With three themes woven through together in five voices as only Bach can, this fugue offers a competent group of instrumentalists with many technical and interpretive challenges! Also available here in Wind Quintet and Saxophone Quintet flavours!
