This is a Vocal/Lead sheet (with the melody written for singers in treble clef, an octave below the written guitar part) for Christmas Suite 1225, intended for those wanting to sing along with the guitar part or videos. A full guitar arrangement is also available separately. Christmas Suite 1225 is a new recording by The Candlelight Guitarist, which opens with an original piece by Bradley Powell, leading into fourteen traditional Christmas carols (19th century and prior). Part 1 includes: Carols of Suite 1225, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, We Three Kings, Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, The First Noel, Hark! the Herald Angels Sing, O Come All Ye Faithful, and O Holy Night. ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso and at CSUN under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, and was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Brad has also played as the solo guitarist for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Resort by Disneyland, providing music for the Belle, Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Mulan, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and their friends and guests.

O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally spelled in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a famous Christmas song that has been attributed to various authors. This beautiful hymn was first published by John Francis Wade in his collection Cantus Diversi (1751), with four Latin verses, and music set in the traditional square notation used for medieval liturgical music. Besides John Reading and John Francis Wade, the tune has been attributed to several musicians, from Handel to the German composer Gluck. The Portuguese composer Marcos Portugal or King John IV of Portugal have also been credited. Thomas Arne, whom Wade knew, is another possible composer. This arrangement features an easy-to-play treble clef instruments version, with piano accompaniment and chords, for optional guitar accompaniment. Easy level. Key: G Major.

The instrumental parts may be played with multiple performers on each part 1-6. Octave transpositions are allowed optionally at any point, in addition to those bars marked with ‘opt. 8’. If there are multiple performers on each part then have solo performers from rehearsal letter E to the end. The technique instructions in brackets (pizz., arco, con sord.) are not meant to indicate specific instruments, they are applicable only to those appropriate instruments who may be performing.

Optional - Percussion instruments. Two low drums, agogo bells, marimba or piano.

Optional - Voices. In the opening section, each voice in turn speaks the name of the subsequent instrumental performer at the beginning of the indicated bar (or any person if there are multiple players within the part). The subsequent rhythms are a guide and can be interpreted freely.
The voices may characterise their delivery so that each person is distinguished from the other. For example - angry, loving, curious, frightened, strict, cynical.

Optional - Drone on low E. The drone may be played on any instruments, taking breath or rests as necessary. The drone ends in the bar before rehearsal letter E. The drone may be doubled one or two octaves higher and/or an octave lower than written. If multiple instruments are playing the drone, the players may fade in and out of the drone texture ad lib.

Any of the following also optional: Voices enter, three with folded bed sheets who unfold and shake them open; others recite list of night birds. Hang sheets to make a screen. Instrumentalists enter. Bird flying silhouettes or bird hand-shapes projected. Intermittent recorded sounds of flapping wings. At end voices fold sheets, exit with instrumentalists, flapping wings sound fades. Other instruments sustain low e from beginning to letter E.

This arrangement of Franck's famous vocal solo is intended originally for Trombone and Orchestra but will work equally well with other suitable instruments in the solo role ('cello, bassoon, euphonium, violin , clarinet etc) and if necessary just a quartet accompaniment.
