Ever heard additional harmony in your head while playing/listening to the Bach solo suites? This composition adds a second voice as a complement to the existing Bach suite. The second voice is written in imitative counterpoint, more or less in the Baroque style. Can be performed as a variety of duet combinations of violin, viola, or cello. Even though the original Bach was written Senza Basso Accompagnato (Without bass accompaniment) the accompaniment is implied. This is a fun original take on the tried and true masterpiece.

I have taught this minuet from the Anna Magdalena notebook and thought, This would be perfect as an oboe and bassoon duet!  It is lovely in its original form as a keyboard solo, but the change in instrumentation to adds a whole new dimension.  .

The third movement of this suite was inspired by the opening movement of Bach's Goldberg Variations, which many students of the harpsichord will know of. Heavily ornamented and lyrical, this movement leaves much open to interpretation of the performer. Written in 2015, it is the second-oldest movement in my suite.

This is a short piece that has a lot of character and flair, written for two of Antonis' favourite solo instruments, the violin and the flute when he was still a composition student. In this piece the violin plays a fast solo intro and then proceeds to accompany the flute, and gradually the two instuments play many interwoven melodies leading to a very intense finale. The writting is baroque-like without phrasing or dynamic markings, leaving the interpretation entirely to the two players and their personalities.

A gavotte is a dance of French peasant origin marked by the raising rather than sliding of the feet. 2 : a tune for the gavotte in moderately quick â�´/â‚„ time. Although a gavotte is not intended to be faster than circa 66 b.p.m., it is possible that the 4/4 time could have been a 2/2 in metre - thus dancing music. The upbeats at the beginning of a section is meant to be somewhat slower (raising the feet) as an anticipation for the dance to follow (like an 'on-your-marks' effect). Enjoy!
