This lively cantata is one of comparatively few Easter works from the Baroque era, relative to the many Passion and Christmas works from that era. This edition provides Buxtehude’s Latin text and in places alternative Latin phrases from the source material. The prosodic English translation preserves the stress patterns and rhymes of the original text.

This arrangement provides the option of performing the instrumental quartet parts and bass continuo on a variety of instruments, thus making the piece available to many different ensembles, including string quartet, woodwind quartet, double reed quartet, clarinet quartet, and many other combinations of string and/or woodwind instruments. Each part (except the basso continuo) is provided in various transpositions, permitting performance by ensembles of instruments selected from the following (instruments listed in order of historical appropriateness):

Like many of Burnell's compositions this piece is suitable for homogeneous ensembles and also for mixed ensembles comprising atypical instrumental combinations or numbers of instruments.

The instrumentation is not specified. The score shows clefs for parts 1-4 as if written for a string ensemble but other instrument combinations are possible. Parts are available in a variety of transpositions and clefs. Players may change parts between movements or, where a movement or section is out of range, they may be tacet.

The keyboard may be a piano, or any other keyboard instrument such as harpsichord, toy piano, electric piano etc. adapting the playing style to interpret dynamics or note durations where these are otherwise not possible to achieve.

The movement titles may suggest possible instrumentations.

This original song tells a fairy tail in the style of a Celtic folk song. Both the story and the tune are wholly original and were composed as part of a music production class that Mark participated in during the spring of 2022. This song tells the story of a young boy's adventure in the woods, his skepticism towards what the old folks say, and the results of his failure to listen to them. This piece by Mark Lewis is intended for a vocal soloist with two part vocal accompaniment. The voice parts are all written in treble clef for ease of reading but the Lead should be sing-able by most singers. The Upper Harmony should be sing-able by all except contraltos and true basses, and the Lower Harmony will sound best with altos, baritones, or basses. The instrumental parts consist of vibraphone, piano, bass guitar, and floor tom parts. Any mellow metallophone would be an appropriate substitute for the vibraphone and the bass guitar part can be played on almost any bass instrument. The optional floor tom could be substituted with any other lower, resonant drum available but should not be a short, sharp sound. All that said, both the vibraphone and bass guitar parts are mostly doubled in the piano or vocal lines so groups that do not have access to those instruments should still be able to perform this piece without concern. This piece is also available for SATB Ensemble.
