Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1119216 Composed by Eamon Mukhopadhyay. Contemporary. Score. 15 pages. Eamon Mukhopadhyay #720630. Published by Eamon Mukhopadhyay (A0.1119216). These preludes showcase certain environments that are represented by specific musical features. Prelude No. 1 in C Major The Sunrise was composed to represent the picture and environment of the sun rising. It never uses the traditional C major triad, and instead substitutes the C major mediant (the third scale degree of C major) with surrounding harmonic colors. Prelude No. 2 in C Minor Mystics in the Forest is a study of touch and melodic outlining. Only in the first measure exists the resemblance of a C minor chord (a minor thirteenth) using the mediant (the third scale-degree of a scale). Prelude No. 3 in E-Flat Major The Spring Story completely uses staccato melodic articulations with the sustain pedal to produce a colorful environment throughout the piece, representative of spring. It never resolves into the traditional E-Flat major triad (or extended E-Flat chord) after the first measure. Prelude No. 4 in A-Flat Major Childhood Memories uses accented, deep bass notes and staccato melodic articulation to create a nostalgic environment. Like Prelude No. 3, it never resolves into the traditional triad (or extended chord) based on the tonic of the key signature.

Percussion Octet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1185106 Composed by Dan Cook. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. 86 pages. Pecan Valley Music #784785. Published by Pecan Valley Music (A0.1185106). For percussion octetduration; 11:05crotales / handbells / vibraphone / marimba(4) timpani / roto-toms / sand blocks / (3) flower potsrainstick / claves / (2) bongosboomwhackers (C maj. diatonic set, chromatics set, treble extension set)Dragonfly, Perseverance, and Alvin: three probes exploring very different environments to learn more about our place in the universe.Dragonfly is a rotorcraft expected to perform vertical take-offs and landings on the surface of Saturn's moon Titan in 2034. Titan is a world like our own with oceans, rivers, and lakes. On Titan though, our water cycle is replaced with hydrocarbons, it rains liquid methane, and the surface temperature averages -179 degrees Celsius. The first section of Probe features contrapuntal melodies with a set of roto-toms representing the probe, flower pots representing the possibility of something growing in such a frigid place, and a rainstick representing the potential food source for a hypothetical methanogen. Perseverance will roam the dry, dusty surface of Mars beginning in 2021 drilling and preparing samples that will, for the first time, be returned to Earth. Perseverance will also carry with it a small rotorcraft to prove the ability of flight within Mars’ thin atmosphere. In the second section, tonal harmony is replaced with sandpaper blocks, claves, and bongos with the roto-toms now playing the role of both the secondary rotorcraft and the Martian wind. Alvin has been ferrying explorers to the deepest parts of Earth's oceans and providing insights into the origins of life since the 1970s. The discovery of large tubeworms living in an environment without sunlight, thriving on the energy provided to them by hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, changed our understanding of how life might thrive in many environments across the universe. The conclusion of Probe features Boomwhackers appearing as tubeworms.

Soprano voice, mezzo-soprano voice, or tenor voice and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.9229-E Composed by Juliana Hall. 7 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #9229-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.9229-E). English.Written for Jun Mo Yang, a young tenor studying in the graduate Vocal Arts Program at the Bard Conservatory of Bard College. He and his fellow students were working on a special project studying contemporary composers whose work engages with climate change, environmentalism, and the natural environment. The students had been asked to read a chapter from David Haskell’s Sounds Wild and Broken and had further been given the following direction to guide them: “we are assigning each of you to a project in which you will seek out song repertoire from a living composer whose work responds to climate change or the natural environment, heightening our connection to and awareness of the natural world. This topic has arisen from a call to Bard faculty to #MakeClimateAClass: Bard faculty are urged to use our collective power as educators to engage with the climate change crisis.â€Jun wrote to me that he was drawn to my music and asked whether any of my songs might fit within this subject area. At the time I had plenty of songs that spoke of the natural world, but none I could categorize as specifically dealing with the class’ more narrow focus, so I offered to write this song on a poem by one of my favorite poets, Carl Sandburg, who even by the early twentieth century was noting the degradation of the natural environment and its impact on life of all kinds trying to adjust to changed circumstances brought on in one way or another by man. I quickly found the poem Buffalo Dusk, seeing how strongly it speaks of the extinction of species and the loss that represents. Jun and his teachers remarked what a “beautiful and sad poem†it was, so in short order I was pleased to present this song to Jun, who gave Buffalo Dusk its first performance in April of 2023 at the Bard Conservatory.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Bass Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028052 Composed by Sarah Hersh. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 59 pages. Burbury Lane Music #3368591. Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028052). River Music is a fun and accessible piece that has received much positive feedback in the clarinet world and has been performed many times, including at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest. It is an approximately 8 minute piece for two Bb clarinets and bass clarinet that would be equally at home on an environmental-themed concert or any other type of program. It is a relatively advanced piece but has been performed by high school students. River Music was written for Clarinets for Conservation.Program Note: River Music was inspired by my time one summer spent on the Chattahoochee River and at the Chattahoochee Nature Center near Atlanta, Georgia. I have always had a connection to bodies of water, having spent many summers and weekends at the lake by my grandparents’ house in New York. While sometimes I feel like an outsider as a New Yorker living in the South, as soon as I got on the river, canoeing down the Chattahoochee, I felt at home again. Something about the river reminds me of my childhood on Lake Peekskill, and River Music was partially inspired by that connection.Once I started writing the piece, it took on a life of its own, as water and nature (and composing) often does. One reason I’ve always felt strongly about environmentalism and protecting our natural environment is that all of it – the trees, the earth, the rivers, the lakes – has been here long before we came along and started messing it up, and it will (hopefully) be here long after we’re gone, as long as we make sure to protect these natural spaces and wilderness areas. I often think about how much trees have seen, and as I wrote this piece I started thinking about how much the river has seen too. I hear stories in River Music, and to me it’s the river telling us some, though certainly nowhere near all, of its stories.Perhaps River Music will take you, the listener, on a journey down the river-not just through space, but through time. You might hear some of the same stories I hear. Or you may not. Part of the beauty of writing a piece inspired by a river is that I hope you hear in it whatever the river means to you.Note: The sheet music includes a score, regular set of parts, and a bonus set of parts that include a partial score underneath the main part. The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027138 Composed by Eric Glick Rieman. Concert,Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Eric Glick Rieman #506331. Published by Eric Glick Rieman (A0.1027138). PIano/ Late Intermediate, 2015 Piano Contest Program Note: A Cosmopolitan Nightmare of Wildland Manners 2014, Eric Glick Rieman Denizens of urban environments often feel a distinct distrust of wild lands, having been taught the paranoid fantasies of their elders about that which is perceived as wild(think - the big, bad wolf.) Wild lands represent a frightening metaphor for urban dwellers, that of both their lack of ultimate control, and the reality of each individual's smallness in relationship to the vastness of Wilderness. Plus, there is no place to buy Cheetos at the last minute when one is hungry in a Wilderness. Or have a texting conversation with your grandmother about the proximity of the aforementioned wolf. This in spite of the very real dangers of a standard walk in the park in a modern city. This piece begins with calm and simple melodic patterns, which are then stretched and bent into a slight and non-specific feeling of dis-ease, perhaps akin to the mild discomfort of your basic, entitled, urban Metrosexual when exposed to the vastness of a more natural environment. copyright 2014, Eric Glick Rieman/Water Goes Into The Air (sole proprietorship), ASCAP The MP3 clip performance is by Anastasia Reshetekhin.
