Small Ensemble Timpani,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977352 By Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra. By Moises Simons. Arranged by Des McNutty. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Des Press #6438143. Published by Des Press (A0.977352). Part of the series A Pulchritudinous Posy of Pleasing Party-PiecesA few fancies for five-part natural trumpet ensemble* with optional timpani. At last: Some new repertoire for the historical natural trumpet! This one-handed instrument was familiar to composers such as JS Bach, Handel, Telemann, Purcell, Vivaldi etc., but was largely neglected after the invention of valves in the early 19th century - and the subsequent invention of the nodal vent-hole systems in the late 20th-century - until recently, when the elusive lost art of clarino playing (in the fourth octave and above) was cracked by dedicated optimists such as Don L Smithers and JF Madeuf. These arrangements are a stylistic departure from the trumpet's golden age of Baroque repertoire, featuring works well known in the 20th century, and provide excellent training for rhythmic precision, style, pitching and team playing. They're also fun, if you like that sort of thing. Advice on tuning up the differently-pitched instruments and a technical tip are included. The current regulations on SMP mean us little guys can only publish in-copyright works one at a time. So, you can collect them all and make yourself a tome!  These arrangements were originally written for Lunchtime Tower Music (weather permitting), at the Dartington International Summer School between roughly 2000 and 2010, for courses led by Michael Laird and David Staff. Such performances from the mediæval clock tower involved the various brass and other wind classes playing seriously with an informal atmosphere. Logistical issues, a narrow staircase and the ubiquitous Health-and-Safety regulations prevented the use of timpani on the tower but sometimes larger groups, and those involving vertigo sufferers, played in the courtyard instead. These pieces are the opposite of playing Baroque music on modern, or postmodern instruments. Get them all now and enjoy a refreshing change! Enjoy! DM

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869364 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 104 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #25515. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869364). Instrumentation: SATB chorus and soloists plus orchestra 2222-2221-timp-perc-hp-org-strings. Mass for the Holy Year 2000 is in nine movements and scored for SATB chorus, chamber orchestra and organ. I set the entire Latin text from the Ordinary of the Mass: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. In between these sections, I added four settings of contemporary poems written in English. Initially, I wanted to use poems that would bring to the listener's attention the serious humanitarian issues we face every day on earth as we enter a new millennium: religious and ethnic wars, poverty, genocide, AIDS, intolerance, social inequality and racial injustice. But as I began to slowly understand the text of the Mass, I decided that the contemporary poems I would use should reflect and amplify what is already in the Latin text. It is all about faith and redemption. Elizabeth Kirschner (b. 1955) is a poet who lives in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Her poem is about the search for God. Claude McKay (1890-1948), a member of the Harlem Renaissance Poets, was originally from Jamaica. His poem asks for God's presence. Edith Stein (1891-1942) was a Carmelite nun who was killed by the Nazis during World War II because she was a Jew. Her poem celebrates God's presence. The final poem is by the Trappist monk, Thomas Merton (1915-1968). His poem, which was published posthumously, is about the assassination of the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King.

Krakamp died in Naples in 1883.The version for saxophone remains close to the original version for flute, with only a few register changes because of range issues. Some passages in the piano part have been re-enforced harmonically and the ending has been slightly changed, to create a more definitive ending. .

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918705 Composed by Daniel Carr. Contemporary,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score. 18 pages. Daniel Carr #2034535. Published by Daniel Carr (A0.918705). Lesotho Variations for Solo Piano, Opus 1, was my first mature work as a composer. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho from 1995 to 1997 when I was in my early 20s. I wrote this work several years after returning to the United States. Each variation is based on a scene from Lesotho, some being an everyday activity, such as plowing fields or looking out over the mountains. The earlier variations are more light-hearted than the later variations, which deal with more serious issues including drought and illness. While all of the variations are based on the Lesotho National Anthem, an additional song, Mohololi, also appears in the later variations. I heard the song just once, at the funeral of a fellow Peace Corps Volunteer, Jeremy Rolfs, who died in a car accident in South Africa at the young age of 27. Jeremy and I had discussed composing an opera based on music and stories from Lesotho. While that project never came to fruition, I offer this work in his memory.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1395044 Composed by Alice Mary Smith. Arranged by edited by John M Laverty. 19th Century,Classical. 147 pages. Zephyrwindmusic.com #978510. Published by zephyrwindmusic.com (A0.1395044). British composer Alice Mary Smith (1839-1884) was in her early 20’s when she wrote her first major work, Symphony in C minor. Despite the many challenges faced by a female composer in Victorian era Great Britain, Smith’s composition received a high level of praise from the British press following the work’s premiere by the Musical Society of London in 1863. Despite this early praise, Smith never received the long-term recognization her talents deserved. Due to a number of factors, her orchestral compositions were not even published until the early 2000s.This edition is based entirely on Smith’s original manuscript. The edition is highly edited including an update to modern instrumentation and the addition of missing/inconsistent dynamics and articulations. The original hand-written manuscript contains many additional markings in pencil (also included in this edition), apparently added after the inked manuscript was complete.Parts are also available, and as with all Zephyrwindmusic publications, parts come with an Unlimited Copy License, thus removing any potential copyright issues. Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1257185 Composed by Nicholas White. 21st Century,Classical,Traditional. Octavo. 16 pages. Nicholas White Music #850509. Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1257185). George Eliot's poem is given a rich and powerful setting for choir and organ.O May I join the choir invisible  Of those immortal dead who live again  In minds made better by their presence: live  In pulses stirr'd to generosity,  In deeds of daring rectitude, in scorn For miserable aims that end with self,  In thoughts sublime that pierce the night like stars,  And with their mild persistence urge man's search  To vaster issues.          So to live is heaven:  To make undying music in the world,  Breathing as beauteous order that controls  With growing sway the growing life of man.  So we inherit that sweet purity  For which we struggled, fail'd, and agoniz'd With widening retrospect that bred despair.  Rebellious flesh that would not be subdued,  A vicious parent shaming still its child,  Poor anxious penitence, is quick dissolv'd;  Its discords, quench'd by meeting harmonies,   Die in the large and charitable air.  And all our rarer, better, truer self,  That sobb'd religiously in yearning song,  That watch'd to ease the burthen of the world,  Laboriously tracing what must be,      And what may yet be better,—saw within  A worthier image for the sanctuary,  And shap'd it forth before the multitude,  Divinely human, raising worship so  To higher reverence more mix'd with love,—    That better self shall live till human Time  Shall fold its eyelids, and the human sky  Be gather'd like a scroll within the tomb Unread forever.          This is life to come,  Which martyr'd men have made more glorious       For us who strive to follow. May I reach  That purest heaven, be to other souls  The cup of strength in some great agony,  Enkindle generous ardor, feed pure love,  Beget the smiles that have no cruelty,Be the sweet presence of a good diffus'd,  And in diffusion ever more intense!  So shall I join the choir invisible  Whose music is the gladness of the world.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.767356 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 23 pages. Lyons Music Services #3543479. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767356). At long last I have nearly finished the 7th book. This book has posed some issues as it is such complex music it is almost impossible to cut it down to 5 parts while maintaining its integrity. As a result, some songs will be in 6 or more parts. Interrotte speranze is another song about unrequited love for two tenors. Interrupted hopes, eternal faith, Powerful flames and beams in the weak heart His love is unrequited, so he wishes the lady ill! (Spoiled brat!) The seventh book is quite a change from the earlier ones. Monteverdi seems to be concentrating on developing solos and duets, trios and small accompanied ensembles. The accompaniments are often written out with more than just long note chords. The intricate instrumental parts are more than just filling in the harmony (hence the difficulty in paring them down.) Once again, these songs are exquisitely crafted and travel well onto brass.

Piano - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.15-857-11E Composed by Thomas Keesecker. 9/11 Service, Funeral. 3 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #15-857-11E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.15-857-11E). The final volume in our popular series of reflective piano music books, The Quiet Heart was written at a time when the composer was experiencing health issues, and the resulting focus is on healing and comfort. However, don't expect all the material to be subdued—there are several titles written as dances, inspired by Psalm 30: You have turned my mourning into dancing. As in the previous volumes of hymn-based piano settings, the rather uncomplicated writing belies the musical impact.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.886158 Composed by Jason Gary McChristian. Contemporary. Score and parts. 243 pages. Jason Gary McChristian #4354563. Published by Jason Gary McChristian (A0.886158). This series contains four issues. Each issue may be performed separately or may be performed as a whole. The Prologue, sold separately, may also be performed at the beginning of the series. Each issue represents an element, either an archetype, place, or an emotion, commonly found in comic book stories. As a whole, Strange Myths tells a particular story arc, one that is intentionally void of specific details, inviting the listener to imagine the particulars. Each series also contains its own sub-plot and emotional progression, suggesting the traditional symphonic form. Each issue has a duration of three to four minutes, limited to a small, but intensely expressive amount of thematic material. The challenge inherent in this limitation was to create enough contrast, yet not so much as to require more time to resolve it, therefore, each issue is self-contained.
