(like the other titles in the Groove Zones series) are designed to grow with you as you explore from street (around grade 2-4) to town (around grade 3-5) and finally to the city (grade 5/6+) and embraces a more commercial saxophone sound that will be highly appealing and a great motivator for personal practice. The five pieces in the book (Jingle Bingle Bells, Carol from Sussex, In Dulci Jubilo, We Three Kings of Old London, and Deck the (Terry) Halls) each appear in the three difficulty levels (so really there are fifteen pieces in the book) and have been carefully notated/articulated to provide that authentic commercial sound (in many styles from Big Band, Metal/Rock, Jazz Waltz, Blues, and even Ska - think of the band Madness or The Specials and you're on the right wavelength!). Jingle Bingle Bells begins as a luscious ballad in a style inspired by some of our popular Crooners like Michael Buble (with regards to the other Crooner, the clue is in the title!) but soon launches into a joyous upbeat big band swing before finally returning from whence it came. You can almost see and smell the gently falling snow! The three versions are included: Jingle Bingle Bells (Street) - around grade 2-4, Jingle Bingle Bells (Town) - around grade 3-5, and Jingle Bingle Bells (City) - grade 5/6+Carol from Sussex is a Metal/Rock twisted arrangement of the original (Sussex Carol) and features the vocal talents of Mr Nick McCarthy with his fun interjections! This arrangement really romps along, though the Street edition is cleverly arranged to make the tune basically half the speed for lesser experienced players. Conjure up an idea of the mysterious Carol from Sussex as you enjoy this festive showpiece! The three versions are included: Carol from Sussex (Street) - around grade 2-4, Carol from Sussex (Town) - around grade 3-5, and Carol from Sussex (City) - grade 5/6+In Dulci Jubilo is a sweet and laid back number arranged in a Jazz Waltz style with oodles of space to soar on notes. Full of sound effects such as the rumblings of the underground and an echoey sax down a deserted street (and do we hear Father Christmas somewhere in the distance?!) there are some really sleazy play offs between the sax and the guitar at the start and end (inspired perhaps 'Lily was Here' - Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart). Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828700 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 16 pages. Guido Menestrina #122893. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828700). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Secondo Movimento - Adagio Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse, tacet on 2nd movement), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen, a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787. One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. Follow the score on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_urGVpH7Pls.

Clarinet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.913621 Composed by James Marshall. Classical. Individual part. 64 pages. James Marshall Music #6096487. Published by James Marshall Music (A0.913621). Six Bagatelles for Clarinet and Piano were composed in March, 2020 for Beethoven 250. They are drawn from Beethoven piano music. The sources are piano sonatas, bagatelles, and a landler. With my ever faithful friend and collaborator, London Clarinetist Alison Eales in mind, I sought to add to the Clarinet repertoire. Having written five pieces over the past two years in English manner for Clarinet (English Sonatina, English Autumn, London Concerto, Enchanted London, Postcards from England), a tip of the hat to the Austrian Titan seemed appropriate. Beethoven, unlike Mozart before him and Brahms after him, wrote no solo music for Clarinet. The Trio and scoring in Symphonies are his unique contributions to the repertoire. Beethoven was a contemporary of Weber who wrote extensively for solo Clarinet. With most of the passages being arrangements, my original homage passages frame the settings and are juxtaposed with them. The tone of the music is one of homage and recollection with no intent to imitate or parody the great master. Bagatelles are by nature lighter fare of shorter duration. Hence no long, authentic passages with inherent mood swings and elaborations. By adapting the music to the bagatelle form, it reflects the less ponderous side of the composer. Although Beethoven’s music is capable of great depth and despair, the more transcendent, pastoral, and exuberant moods prevail in these pieces. The final two movements, Recitative and Rondo, draw on the Waldstein Sonata and Emperor Piano Concerto, and Sonata Op 2 No3 as well. The Rondo theme is in Eb, my own, is reminiscent of the Emperor Concerto in it intense yet lilting motif. Perhaps the listener will hear hints of Weber, a clarinet favorite of mine, as well in this final movement. Two movements are scored for Clarinet in A, and four movements for Clarinet in Bb.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922609 Composed by Kurt Bestor, Michael McLean, and Sam Cardon. Arranged by Kimberly Joy Minarich. Broadway,Contemporary,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score. 3 pages. Kimberly Joy Minarich #6533113. Published by Kimberly Joy Minarich (A0.922609). From the Feature Films for Families, RigolettoHere, you will find the beautiful melody of Let Me In, from Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon, made into a lovely, intermediate piano solo. The melody is true to their original composition, making it a wonderful accompaniment to a vocal arrangement, if desired. I simply wanted to share this arrangement, as there is not many out in the world! I came up with this arrangement in high school when I first fell in love with the movie/musical, Rigoletto, and have been playing it ever since! (It was my first attempt at arranging!) I finally wrote it down with the intention of giving others the opportunity to play it as well. This song is too beautiful to not be shared and enjoyed! Enjoy!

Small Ensemble Flute,Harpsichord,Mandolin,Piano,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017681 Composed by Gordon Jackson. Celtic,Classical,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. Gordon Jackson #6439147. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017681). The Western HeightsThis is a little piece I composed without a specific form in mind. Although it’s in 3/4 it’s neither courante nor galliard, waltz nor minuet. It just is. Unusually for me, the chordal accompaniment is written for harpsichord (or any keyboard instrument), in order to get the full arpeggiation not possible on my octave mandola or bouzouki. The Western Heights, in Dover, used to be a really fun place to go; a barracks inter alia for a French invasion that never quite happened. Miles of tunnels built into a mountainside with rotten drawbridges, very steep stone staircases and plenty of rats. I used to climb inside and spend hours wandering around in the dark stumbling over debris, squeezing through narrow gaps, climbing walls. It’s been taken over now by various doers of good and made ‘safe’. I think you have to pay to get in. Back in the day one could be Indiana Jones for a while and have a truly great time.

Instrumental Duet Horn,Instrumental Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792834 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Thomas Jöstlein. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 38 pages. Gordon Cherry #6717945. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792834). Brahms Symphony No. 3, Op. 90 in F for Two Horns has been lovingly arranged by Thomas Jostlein. This great work has never been arranged for such a small group before but Mr. Jostlein explains it this way:This arrangement of the Brahms Third Symphony in F Major, op. 90, began with my arranging the third movement, completed in 1996 as a gift to my wife, Tricia, also a horn player. Upon revisiting it recently, I decided to arrange the other movements, with Gordon Cherry's helpful encouragement. While a reduction of such a large orchestral work for a pair of horns may seem trivial or silly, it works beautifully, revealing Brahms' masterful harmonic, melodic, contrapuntal, and tone-color artistry. It is hoped that horn players use this arrangement as a means of discovering these great qualities of Brahms, rather than as a performance piece. Have fun!
