It concludes with an ending as if the the night's work is done and another evening will give one the ability to reflect on where they've been and what good they can bring. Scored for chamber orchestra and is of the intermediate playing level. Some parts may require a little bit of preparation to insure music is seamless.

This anthem is mainly for Easter day - a declaration of God's great gift of salvation and freedom - but references scripture in the Christmas and Epiphany sections of the lectionary.

Composed in 2018, this piece essentially starts out as a waltz, with a surprise halfway through. The first 3/4 melody you hear may sound a tad reminiscent of a waltz composed by Dmitri Shostakovich, which was partially intended. The second melody, consisting mainly of dissected chords, sounds more like carousel music, hence the title. And then we come to the plot twist.Towards the end of the piece, there is a subtle detail the composer threw in, which most listeners might not notice. During a section in C minor, the counter-melody transitions into major 3 bars before the lead melody does. In the counter-melody is an unexpected C major chord in C minor, (an E-natural where you likely expected an E-flat). This was actually done to foreshadow the melody jumping back into major for the finale.To a certain extent, Carousel City is Adrian's love letter to Binghamton. He personally believes this piece to be one of the best in his archive, and hopes that you experience as much fun hearing it as he did writing it.

Since it no longer has lyrics to convey the meaning I have added extra markings and altered some harmonies and rhythms to add the appropriate interest and emotion. Several parts now contain short unmetered solos to be done freely in recitative fashion. The individual parts are not difficult with just basic notes and rhythms; the beauty is in the way they fit together creating harmony and polyphony. With a 6 minute performance time, this is a major work which bridges the Classical and Romantic eras.

Long Road to Georgia is a simple trad jazz tune, written at a time when I felt a longing to be back home (which isn't Georgia, that just had a better ring to it than my actual home).Do check out the recording for a mock-up rendition. The strings are improvised and aren't necessary, but make the song sound a bit sweeter. The last play-through of the tune in the recording is done with other instruments improvising around the tune for a proper Dixieland feel. I wholeheartedly recommend this - it adds so much to the overall feel if you've got other instruments noodling around. The slow, simple chord progression makes this a really good tune for people who are newer to jazz & improvisation.

Townshend once called it the most clumsy piece of writing he'd ever done. Nevertheless, the song was a commercial success and remains one of the most recognized tunes from the opera.
