It has an optional vocal,( cued in for alto sax) that should be sung thru a megaphone like the old Winchester Cathedral. The title comes from a pattern of speech found only in Chicago where people still say over by here and over by there. It swings well and invites a couple tambourines playing on 2 and 4. This is a fun chart but is very correct musically even if you expect the Blues Brothers to show up when it’s played. It can be opened for solos if needed. Don’t get too serious about the vocal, it’s best with your worst singer, maybe with a clothes-pin on his nose.   Enjoy it with your audience.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Each movement takes it's inspiration from individual postcards containing pictures of St. Michael's Cathedral in Coventry, England. When performed in sequence, Reconciliation can serve as a worship service however, the individual movements also can stand alone. Although the tenth movement in Reconciliation, Agnus Dei was the initial small seed catalyst that grew into the idea to write a 12 movement work. The idea came to me when I first visited Coventry Cathedral and saw a statue entitled Reconciliation by Josefina de Vasconcellos. The statue depicts two figures kneeling in an embrace. What makes this statue so powerful is that the placement of the statue is among the ruins of the original Cathedral after the bombing by German Aircraft in WWII. I immediately sketched an idea for this movement on the bus after my college choir rehearsed in the cathedral. When I returned to the United States, I wrote a rough vocal line and string orchestra accompaniment. The composition then lay dormant for more than a decade with no major changes. It was only this past week (almost fifteen years later) that I rewrote the accompaniment for piano and cleaned up the choral part. The opening unison vocal line can be timeshared among the voice parts. Since it covers a wide range, let the lower voices sing what range they sing well and the higher voices reciprocate. Please feel free to vary the tempo with rubato throughout the piece to allow for proper breath support. Do not be shy leaning into the dissonances found in the suspensions as the ultimate resolution in the grant us peace

The mural led caves at Dunhuang, which were begun the Northern Wei dynasty(336AD), and developed over one thousand years into the Qing Dynasty, re presents one of the world‘s richest cultural treasures. Drawing on bothn Western(Indian and Persian) as well as Chinese tradition, the caves, of which 492 remain intact, were decorated as a mines of religious devotion, with the initiation of Buddhism into China. Through All of Our DaysI wrote this contemporary worship hymn in 2022 with Ash Wednesday and the liturgical season of Lent in mind. It is set in a lilting, 3/4 time signature, and is easy for beginning accompanists to play (it's in the key of F Major). The melodic range and rhythmic patterns make this piece highly accessible for robust congregational singing, but don't mistake simplicity for banality! Through All Of Our Days is still a deeply engaging and memorable hymn. The piano/vocal/guitar version of the hymn also includes some beautiful vocal harmonies between the soprano and alto voices. If you would like a full SATB score, that version is also available on Sheet Music Plus.    Although I composed this hymn for a particular liturgical season, several congregations and clergy colleagues have also requested it for use during funerals/memorial services, at baptisms, confirmations, and covenanting services. It opens with a tuba and woodblock duet and then skips along happily through a couple meter changes and ends delightfully in two parts. In some ways, this is a relatively simple song. In other ways, it’s tricky. At one place, the melody is tossed around, being played by most instruments within 8 measures. Then, it morphs into 6/8 time for just a few delightful measures before going back to 4/4 for the grand wind-up. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Cover Pages and Conductor's Score are 8.5 x 14. Hail might mean an acclamation or weather:  it's up to the listener.  Mandelbrot developed  the mathematics of fractals, and you need to look him up and see some fractal art such as the cover image.  My piece owes something to these, and to Mike Oldfield, minimalist composers such as John Adams, and a harmonic progression by Handel.  It has a hypnotically repeating rhythmic pattern with hiccups, and drones in the background. I have used an octotonic mode to take us even further from tradition.  A useful short encore.

Having the opportunity to grow up in New England and now living in Maine, I have seen a WIDE variety of weather within just a period of 24 hours! While living on the West Coast I will never forget my drive on the 395 going north and seeing the Sierra Nevada mountains (to my left) tall and grand with snow covered mountain tops! To the right, you would see and feel the hot desert! Although the performers do not need to envision mountaintops or deserts you need to respect the different sections and moods of the piece and know that everything is changing around us, all the time. As musical artists, we can convey our life journeys through our individual sound as well as the ensemble; whether it’s through enjoying nature, life’s challenges, and celebrations! Enjoy making traditional sounds and nontraditional sounds with your instrument.

Such a masterpiece with the quiet, very personal beginning and the powerful, hurt and angry second part. Despite looking for a while, I couldn't find a solo guitar music sheet as good as the piano versions out there. One that covers the whole song, doesn't stick with the easy chords like C and Fm, but goes with a more complex and beautiful Cadd9, Fm6/11 and such. So I came up with my own arrangement for solo guitar. It's an interesting mixture of strumming and fingerpicking worked out on 6 pages and so much fun to play. Not too hard, though, so you can also focus on the singing.
