Hear 30 second clip beginning at measure 1. Arrangement about 1 min 30 secs performance time.  I love this little child/mother song. If one keeps the title Angels, the surprise ending will be kept to the end. Lovely harmonies and emotions, with the climax at m 52 followed by the surprise ending.Milk this little song for all it's worth. My heart swells just for going through it in my head!! Feedback would be appreciated.   After thinking about ANGELS, I HAVE TO TELL YOU the most important line in the song. After the Daddy tells the child what angels are, he says, They call them angels in Heaven (beautiful spot in the son), but we call them MOTHERS down here. Such a tear-jerker, I think!!

Theodulf of Orléans was a Spanish bishop around the time of Charlemagne. Teschner was a German composer around the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The song is to be based on the text from Matthew 21:1-11. Section A is the exposition of the hymn. A modulation to a new key is aided with an augmented sixth chord (German 6th). Section B is in the new key with a descant added by yours truly.
