Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1017218

By Noisettes. By Daniel Smith, George Astasio, James Morrison, Jason Pebworth, and Shingai Shoniwa. Arranged by Anna Caitlin Fordham. Pop. Octavo. 12 pages. Caitlin Fordham #6084019. Published by Caitlin Fordham (A0.1017218).

Piano accompanied SSA arrangement of Noisette's popular song Never Forget You. This arrangement is written with school or training ensembles in mind, including the difficulty of the piano part. The harmonies become gradually more complex with each passing chorus, and repeats of earlier harmonies can be substituted at the leader's/teacher's discretion. This song makes a very good introduction to harmony for secondary or high school aged choirs and ensembles.
CW: mention of alcohol (One lyric What you drinkin', rum or whiskey?).

'The Maid Behind the Bar' is a lively Irish jig that's great fun to play. It's well-known and loved and is played across the world in pubs, on stage and at Irish music sessions. It is a great jig for beginners and experts alike.

History: ‘The Maid Behind the Bar’ is one of the most popular Irish tunes in modern sessions. ‘The Maid Behind the Bar’ first appeared in print under the name ‘Judy’s Reel’ in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection published in 1882 in Boston. The tune also appeared as ‘The Green Mountains’ in O’Neill’s Music of Ireland (1903). ‘The Maid Behind the Bar’ was a favourite dance tune in the US after it was brought over from Ireland by refugees from The Great Irish Famine. Piper Tom Ennis and Sligo fiddler James Morrison popularised the tune when they recorded it in 1922.
