Thie is a jazz saxophone quartet piece I wrote in 1981 whilst attending Boston Conversatory a classical music college.  This piece has been performed in several venues and colleges such as Berklee College of Music and Grossmont College in San Diego.  It has written improvised solos for Soprano and Alto Sax with chord symbles for totally improvesed solos by each instrument.  It is in Stride style reminisent of Scott Joplin'a Ragtime piece such as Maple Leaf Rag. It is for an intermediate level of players.

The song, written by Vincenzo De Crescenzo and with music by Antonio Viana, was first performed at the Feast of Piedigrotta at the Augusteo Theater in Naples in 1950, sung by Giorgio Consolini with the accompaniment of Nello Segurini's orchestra. In a short time, the song became very popular, becoming one of the post-war hits not only in Naples, but also in Italy and abroad, translated into 42 languages and dialects. Claudio Villa will make him his workhorse. He has come to the United States of America and will be recorded by singers such as Frank Sinatra. This study is inspired by the performance of Mario Frangoulis.

The tango show tune Hernando's Hideaway was written in 1954 by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler for the Broadway show The Pajama Game.   We've arranged it for brass quintet and drum set. Castanets or bongos can substitute for the complete drum set.   Our arrangement spreads lead responsibilities across the top four parts. Performance time is approximately 2:48. Thanks, John.  Whatever Lola Wants is a popular song, sometimes rendered as Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets.  The music and words were written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross for the 1955 musical play Damn Yankees.  The song is sung to Joe Hardy by Lola, the Devil's assistant, a part originated by Gwen Verdon, who reprised the role in the film.  The saying was inspired by Lola Montez, an Irish-born Spanish dancer and mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, who later became a San Francisco Gold Rush vamp.  Very interesting, to say the least!

It was sung in the stage and film versions of the musical by Carol Haney. The song is about a fictional invitation-only nightclub of the same name where lovers can meet for secret rendezvous. According to author Dave Hoekstra, Hernando's Hideaway was based on Hilltop, an establishment in East Dubuque, Illinois that had been a speakeasy in the 1920s where Al Capone once hid out from the Chicago police..
