The arrangement is suitable for multiple duet combinations with parts available (and potential instrumentations suggested) as follows:

Part 1: C, G, Bb, Eb, F (Alto Flute, Bb Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Horn in F, Trumpet, Violin, Viola)

Part 2: C, Bb, Eb, (Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Tenor Saxophone, Trombone, Eb Bass, Marimba, Cello)

Any other appropriate instruments, even if not suggested above, may play.

The unpitched sounds in Part 1 at the beginning and end of the piece will be determined by the instrument being played.

Play notes within brackets if the main notes are out of range or impractical. Two notes have been added as options to the sustained note in the melody to fill out the harmony at bars 13-14 and 31-32.

Chord symbols are presented in the score and may be used by a keyboard player to provide an harmonic accompaniment. Chord symbols are also presented in the parts to enable improvisation or to suggest alternate harmony notes.

This arrangement retains the key of the original composition.

Programme note:

'Lujon' (also known as 'Slow Hot Wind') is a composition by US composer Henry Mancini (1924 - 1994). A recording of the piece was included on Mancini's 1961 album 'Mr. Lucky Goes Latin'. The title comes from the lujon percussion instrument invented by William Loughborough and which is played on the album recording. The lujon derived its name from 'John Lewis' - the American jazz pianist who bought the first instrument from Loughborough.
