This arrangement for wind quintet (i.e., flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet/bassoon and horn), SATB choir and/or keyboard/organ is based on a combination of 2 Canadian Brass quintet arrangements of O Sacred Head, Now Wounded and Ah, Holy Jesus.Ā Ā 
(When a bassoon is used instead of a bass clarinet, the bassoonist may play from the part marked Bass/Pedal, extracted from the Octavo.Ā  Some bass singers should switch to the Bass/Pedal line in the Octavo when starting to sing the portion for Ah, Holy Jesus.)
The performance in the YouTube video is 4:18 long and consists of the first verse only of O Sacred Head, followed by 3 verses of Ah, Holy Jesus. Of course, all 3 verses of O Sacred Head may be performed first, which increases the performance time to approximately 6 or 7 minutes.

This arrangement for trombone, flute, and piano brings together two hymn tunes that are especially popular at the American holiday of Thanksgiving, but appropriate at any time of year.

 We gather together are the opening words to a poem written by the Dutch poet and composer Adrianus Valerius in 1597 to celebrate the Dutch victory in a long-standing dispute with Spain. 1878, the Austrian composer/conductor Edward Kremser arranged six Dutch folk songs for men's voices, including Prayer of Thanksgiving: Old Dutch Melody, with texts in German. In 1894, Theodore Baker (editor of Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians) translated the German text of Prayer of Thanksgiving into the familiar English version, We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing, that is sung today.

 Now Thank We All Our God is Catherine Winkworth's (1827-1878) translation of the German Nun Danket Alle Gott, written by Lutheran clergyman and hymn-writer Martin Rinckart (1586-1649). Rinckart's text, based on a passage from Ecclesiasticus, was set to a chorale tune by Johann Cruger (1598-1662) in his 1647 collection, Praxis pietatis melica (The Practice of Piety in Song), a hymnal for use in public worship and private devotions. Like We Gather Together, it is strongly associated the Thanksgiving holiday and other services of thanksgiving.

Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO) of the classic Thanksgiving tune NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT by Johann Cruger. This song is fun for both parts and is a welcome addition to recitals and worship services throughout the year, but especially during the Thanksgiving season.

The VIOLIN leads with the melody for the first verse and then the VIOLIN and CELLO alternate leading with the melody for the second verse. All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. This arrangement is in the key of F major which will develop skill using low and/or high fingerings. Also, the timing may be a little tricky at first since there are measures with 5/4 instead of the more conventional use of fermatas.

The purchase price includes a 2-page combined score with both parts on each page (VIOLIN and CELLO) plus separate 1-staff scores for the VIOLIN and CELLO (1 page each).

Now Thank We All Our God is an English adaptation of the ancient German hymn Nun danket alle Gott. The lyrics were written by Rinkart in 1636, the melody by Cruger in 1647, and the popular harmony by Mendlessohn in 1840.
This arrangement begins with a Handelian keyboard introduction, modulates to the 1st Verse for Unison choir with a new homophonic reharmonization for accompaniment, then modulates to Verse 2 which is a softer Unison with a drone accompaniment and a voice solo antiphon, then a final modulation into Verse 3 which is Unison with optional traditional SATB hymn parts.
Since it is in Choral Unison we have used it here in the National Cathedral for gathered massed choirs from around the country to celebrate the official Government Holiday of National Day of Thanksgiving. I am aware that one country has also used this piece as part of the Investiture Ceremony to install their new Bishop. The addition of the Psalm antiphons gives it a Nationalistic angle as well. Further, in some countries this hymn is also a tradition at Christian Weddings. In short...this piece is perfect for any moment of Thanksgiving!
