Published by Stephen Davies (A0.1071031). In Bach's own words ..... for the profit and use of musical youth desirous of learning, and especially for the pastime of those already skilled in this study....., we are literally invited by the great man himself, to enjoy playing his music in virtually any combination we like! This unusual combination of the Saxophone Quartet, ie 2 Altos & 2 Tenors is a fitting vehicle for these two pieces from The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 2. The original keys of C Major & Bb Minor have been altered to best suit the range of the 2 Saxes. Also, an opportunity for the Baritone player to get the drinks in !! The Prelude 1 Completely different from the Prelude that opens Book 1, which is mainly broken chords, this opening Prelude to Book 2 features a continuously flowing sequence of melodic ideas. According to Levinson, few pieces of traditional music are more purely processive as this. It develops without a break or pause, without arrivals of significance, from beginning to end Good to play as well!! The Fugue 22 The four voices are distributed throughout the parts, and at 101 bars, it is certainly one of Bach's longest, and definitely one of the most enjoyable to play, especially in a generous acoustic. Also available here in Clarinet Quartet and Wind Quartet flavours!!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.796898 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Stephanie Daige. Baroque,Concert. 26 pages. Stephanie Daige #6040559. Published by Stephanie Daige (A0.796898). This little fugue is one of Bach's most famous and beloved organ works.  Reimagined for woodwind quintet, it is a challenging and fun setting for this fugue.  The five instruments take turns entering with the subject of the fugue, and interplay back and forth with the other instruments.  The timbres of the different instruments add a whole new dimension to this already fascinating work by J.S. Bach.   I considered the need to breathe for each of this wind instruments, which obviously wasn't an issue in the original version intended for organ.  This piece would be appropriate for advanced high school students, college students, or professionals.  It would do well in a chamber music recital, a church,  or an online virtual concert. It would also work as prelude or lobby music.   Duration is just over three minutes (or longer if you prefer to take it slower).  Each measure is numbered individually for convenience during rehearsals. I hope you will enjoy performing this piece as much as I have enjoyed arranging it!  There are also versions of this piece available for brass quintet and double reed ensemble.  Please check out my other arrangements at: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/stephanie-daige/6875

Gary Claunch #5768963. Published by Gary Claunch (A0.1016490). This is the Courante from the French Suite #V by JS Bach originally for keyboard.  It is mostly two lines, treble and bass, which makes it possible to perform by Flute and Bassoon.  It can be played up to speed to show off virtuoso technique, or slower to bring out the give and take between the two parts that Bach does so well.  This might be considered a technical exercise, but this is NOT Rubank!  This is the best from the Baroque, led by the master.  Enjoy!
