Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1466171 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Darrell Goforth. Baroque. 32 pages. Darrell Harrison Goforth #1044794. Published by Darrell Harrison Goforth (A0.1466171). J. S. Bach's work, The Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 are here arranged for Woodwind Quintet.Originally written for Johann Gottlieg Goldberg, the Goldberg Variations were originally published in 1741 and may have been initially performed publically by Herr Gottlieb. This work consists of an Aria and 30 variations.  I have included in this effort the Aria and Variations 1 through 5.  I will publish therest of the variations at a later date.  I think it sounds rather interesting for this ensemble and I hope you enjoy playing it.The cover portrait, as you may have noticed, is not of either Bach or Goldberg.  It is, rather, of a little known younger brother of Johann Sebastian named Robert Feliux Bach.  Bob was neither a composer or musician, but was known as a champion mouser in Hamburg. As always, comments an suggestions are always welcome at darrell.goforth2@gmail,com.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.954839 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Wilian Dolfini. Contemporary. 59 pages. Wilian Dolfini #5790479. Published by Wilian Dolfini (A0.954839). Despite the great beauty and genius Bach demonstrated in this magnificent work, it is not very accomplished today, except by professional groups. So our intention in adapting it for two Woodwind Quintets was to bring the chance to make this work sound in music schools, in independent groups, in churches, etc. It is of intermediate level and quite possible to be carried out by students. Watch the video we made of this adaptation!Komm, Jesu, komm (Come, Jesus, come), BWV 229, is a motet by Johann Sebastian Bach, with a text by Paul Thymich. It was composed in Leipzig, and received its first performance by 1731–1732.Bach scored the motet for double choir. It was probably composed for a funeral, as others of his motets but exact dates of composition and performance are not known. It is his only motet without biblical text. He set a poem by Paul Thymich, which Johann Schelle set as a funeral aria in 1684. Also unusually, the motet is not closed by a chorale, but by an aria which is harmonized like a chorale. The work has been described as having a confident, intimate and tender character, and making more use of polychorality (interplay of the two choirs) than polyphony (interplay of the voices). The theme of the text is death as the happy moment when man, tired of earthly life, can confide in Jesus, who is seen as Truth and Life and the only way to eternal life.Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komm,_Jesu,_komm,_BWV_229

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.857396 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Benson Kwan. Baroque,Christian,Christmas,Easter,Wedding. 6 pages. Humilis #3881435. Published by humilis (A0.857396). Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is the most common English title of a piece of music derived from a chorale setting of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147 (Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life), composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1723. The English version of the piece was written by the poet laureate Robert Bridges. It is not a translation of the stanzas used within Bach's original version, but is inspired by stanzas of the same hymn that Bach had drawn upon: Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne, the lyrics of which were written in 1661 by Martin Janus (or Jahn), and which was sung to Johann Schop's 1642 Werde munter, mein Gemüte hymn tune.It is often performed slowly and reverently at wedding ceremonies, as well as during Christian festive seasons like Christmas and Easter. This arrangement is a shortened version of the piece, now slightly longer than 2 minutes -- which is perfect for wedding/Mass entrance. For the keyboard line, harpsichord is recommended, but an organ or a piano will also do.Included: score (5 pages), choir vocal part (1 page), cello part (1 page)Performance clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmG4wc75nXE

Baroque,Christian,Classical,Contest,Festival,Sacred. 24 pages. Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers #6567613. Published by Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers (A0.918906). Here is a compelling setting of Martin Luther’s hymn A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (EIN FESTE BURG) by Johann Pachelbel (1653-1750). Originally composed for organ, it has been arranged for String Quartet or String Ensemble with optional keyboard. Two harmonizations of the isometric version of the hymn are also provided. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1368455 By Jose Valladares. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Jose Valladares. Baroque. Score. 1 pages. Circlesquare Music #952801. Published by Circlesquare Music (A0.1368455). The March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 is attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most influential composers of the Baroque era. However, it's important to note that BWV Anh. 122 is part of the Anhang (Anh.), a section of the Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis (Bach Works Catalogue) that includes works of dubious authenticity or those once attributed to Bach but later found to be composed by other composers. In the case of BWV Anh. 122, it's generally believed that the piece was not composed by J.S. Bach himself but rather by one of his contemporaries or successors.Despite the uncertainty regarding its true composer, the March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 is a delightful and spirited composition that exhibits the stylistic characteristics of the Baroque period. Here are some key aspects of the piece:Baroque Style: The piece reflects the Baroque style, known for its emphasis on contrast, movement, and clear, structured forms. The march is typically characterized by a steady, processional rhythm, and BWV Anh. 122 exemplifies this with its clear, marching tempo.D Major Key: Being in D Major, the piece likely has a bright and jubilant character. D Major is often associated with grandeur and triumph, making it a popular choice for celebratory and ceremonial music during the Baroque period.Keyboard Composition: Like many of Bach's (or his contemporaries') compositions, this march is likely composed for the keyboard, which during Bach's time would have included instruments like the harpsichord or the clavichord. It might also be adaptable for performance on the modern piano.Structure and Texture: The piece probably features a contrapuntal texture, a hallmark of Baroque music, where two or more melodic lines are woven together harmoniously. The structure of the march is likely to be straightforward and symmetrical, reflecting the order and balance prized in the Baroque era.Pedagogical Use: Pieces like the March in D Major, BWV Anh. 122 are often used for educational purposes, helping students develop a sense of rhythm, form, and Baroque style. They are suitable for intermediate-level students who are exploring the stylistic features of Baroque keyboard music.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813371 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 45 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209749. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813371). Flute Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Flute Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players and may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (45 pages). In addition to this version for 5 Flutes, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.
