With his brother, Joseph, he was a member of the Schubertianern (friends of Franz Schubert), a group that often got together for summers at the Schloss Atzenbrugg, west of Vienna. In 1826, Leopold married Maria Johanna Evangelista Augustina Stephania Theodora Lutz, an occasion which was marked by Schubert's composition, the Kupelwieser Waltz (never written down, but passed along by the family and later transcribed by Richard Strauss).

This autobiographical piece starts slow, as if just waking up, but once the Waltzes start, it’s all fun.   This arrangement has four out of five of the original Waltzes with all the Waltzes and sections marked to make creating a shorter version easier. It has both a pedal harp and lever harp version that is intended to be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an occasional harmony note.
