French Horn,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.551616 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. Jmsgu3 #5324393. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.551616). Gabriel Fauré: Nocturne, Op. 104, Molto moderatoNocturne is a musical composition inspired by or evocative of the night. The Irish composer John Field first used the term in the early 19th century to describe a type of character piece for piano intended to be played in the evening or at night. The term was later adopted by other composers, including Chopin and Fauré, who used it to describe their compositions. In the case of Fauré's Nocturne Op. 104, the title nocturne refers to the fact that it is a piece of music intended to be played at night or evocative of the night. The piece is characterized by its modal, incantatory theme, which seems to hark back to the plainchant that Fauré studied at the Niedermeyer School. Like other nocturnes in the set, it explores one predominant mood.Fauré's Nocturne Op. 104 and Chopin's nocturnes share some similarities, but they also have some differences. Fauré greatly admired the music of Chopin and was happy to compose in forms and patterns established by the earlier composer. Fauré's early nocturnes employ the same basic textures as Chopin's nocturnes, but Fauré's later works abandon this in favor of increasingly contrapuntal writing. Fauré also adopted ternary form as an essential form for the piece from Chopin. However, Fauré's melodies often show a rigorous motivic construction not found in Chopin. Fauré's nocturnes are, after Chopin's, among the most beautiful and beloved in music literature. In summary, while Fauré's nocturnes were influenced by Chopin's, they also have unique qualities that set them apart.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1375438 Composed by John Wilbye. Arranged by Alan Edgar. Early Music,Renaissance. 40 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #960011. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1375438). John Wilbye (c 1574 – 1638) was an English madrigal composer. He was employed for decades at Hengrave Hall, near Bury St Edmunds. His style is characterized by the use of false relations between the major and minor modes. ‘Draw on Sweet Night’ comes from John Wilbye’s Second Set of Madrigals of 1609, published when the composer was 35. It has become one of Wilbye’s most cherished works and has been recorded by the likes of I Fagiolini, The Tallis Scholars and The Consort of Musicke. Wilbye labelled his score apt both for viols and voices so I feel justified in making this instrumental arrangement. When adding expressive markings, I had in mind the lyrics and their emotions. INSTRUMENTATION: Essential: Eb, Bb 1-4, Bass and either Bb5 or Alto. Optional: Contra-alto and Contrabass 6 minutes.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.722753 Composed by John Gross Barnard. Arranged by Jari A. Villanueva. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Spiritual. Score and parts. 56 pages. JV MUSIC #3423151. Published by JV MUSIC (A0.722753). Abraham Lincoln Funeral March for Concert BandBy John Gross Barnard Orchestrated by Jari Villanueva This funeral march written by John Gross Barnard was performed by the United States Marine Band during the funeral procession from the Executive Mansion to the Capitol for Abraham Lincoln on April 19, 1865. The march is titled: Funeral March in Memory of the Abraham Lincoln: Played at the Obsequies of the President of the United States by the US Marine Band. The funeral march follows the standard format of dirges of the time (most notable are Webster’s Funeral March, Chopin’s Funeral March and March in Saul by Handel) written in minor keys (considered somber) and divided into eight measure phrases which makes it easy for the funeral cadence to be played underneath. This funeral march, like most written during this time, has a transition to a major key (happier sounding). This march goes to the relative major (D minor to D major) key. Since no parts are extant from the US Band, I was asked to score the march for a modern symphonic band. I hoped to capture the somber drum beat and employed a chime to replicate the bells that tolled along the funeral route.Full Score Piccolo Flutes 1-2 Oboes 1-2 Bassoon 1-2 Eb Clarinet3 Bb ClarinetsAlto ClarinetBass ClarinetAlto Saxophone 1-2Tenor SaxophoneBaritone Saxophone 3 Cornets 2 Trumpets 4 Horns in F3 TrombonesEuphonium (Baritone TC)TubaString BassTimpaniPercussionChimesA retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. Horn,Organ,Timpani,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1268716 Composed by John Francis Wade. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. 25 pages. Con Spirito Music #861244. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1268716). Perhaps the most often-sung processional or recessional hymn at Christmas services, O Come, All Ye Faithful is generally attributed to John Francis Wade (1711-1786), an English Catholic hymn-writer who authored both its Latin text and its tune, known as ADESTE FIDELES from the opening words of the text. Although more than two dozen English translations of Wade's text (c. 1743) by various writers exist, the 1841 translation by English Catholic priest Frederick Oakeley (1802-1880) is the most commonly used.In addition to the four verses-with-refrain in Wade's text and Oakeley's translation, other hymn-writers penned additional stanzas, and it is not uncommon to hear six or seven sung today. This accompaniment for organ, brass quintet, and timpani is based on the four original stanzas as translated by Oakeley, with all but the final verse employing the standard harmonization from The English Hymnal (1906). For performances of more than four verses, it is suggested that the organ-only accompaniment (Verse 1) be repeated/inserted at the discretion of the organist or music director.  Includes full score, parts for organ, Bb tpt. 1, Bb tpt. 2, F horn, tbn, tuba, timpani, and reproducible bulletin insert for voices. ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Tenor voice or soprano voice solo, SATB choir, organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.6414-E Composed by Leo Nestor. Christmas, Christmas-Sacred. Score & instrument parts. 13 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #6414-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.6414-E). Sing Lullaby was commissioned by music director Michael Batcho for the Choir of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee and composed in California during the summer of 2000. Originally scored for tenor solo, mixed chorus, oboe, French horn and violoncello obbligato and organ, an independent fabric for string orchestra was composed for a performance by the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Christmas of the same year. The setting was further developed for the debut performance of The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir and Chamber Players at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in December of 2002. In the 2008 revision, the composer decided that the obbligato trio of clarinet, French horn and bassoon most clearly evoked the ethos of shepherds, offering optimal timbral contrast to string orchestra and chorus. Substantial emendations of the entire score were made for the present edition of Sing Lullaby, first performed by The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir, University Singers, University Chorus and Symphony Orchestra at the Annual Christmas Concert for Charity at Washington's Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on 7 December 2012 with tenor Rick Christman, the composer conducting.Variation form, long favored by composers in settings of strophic music, imparts a perception of improvisation as singers and players alter harmonies, melody and rhythm to forward the unfolding narrative. Sensitive performance will caress the natural undulation of the largely ternary meter, tapering unstressed beats at the ends of phrases while maintaining the steady flow of the accompaniment. Two editions of the work are published: (I) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio and organ and (II) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio, string orchestra, harp and organ. The edition for chorus and obbligato instruments adds timbral variety to a Christmas concert while employing modest instrumental means which are easily available. Although in Version II both harp and organ are scored ad libitum, the harp adds significantly to the counterpoint of the obbligato instruments, providing further rhythmic impetus and textural variety. Conceived for lyric tenor, the solo may also be sung by soprano.

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8705-E Composed by Zebulon M. Highben. Lent, Funeral, Tenebrae. Instrument part. 8 pages. Duration 4 minutes, 30 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8705-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8705-E). Latin. John 1:5.The text of Lux in tenebris—a single verse from the prologue to the gospel of John—was chosen in conjunction with the commissioning party, who requested a sacred text with universal appeal that could address the hopes and fears that all people share. The composition elaborates on the text's juxtaposition between the darkness of despair and the light of hope. Dissonant, layered ostinati built on fragments of the text illustrate the omnipresent darkness (mm. 1-25). The second half of the piece (m. 29ff.) changes key and meter, employing the entire text to emphasize the persistent shining and eternal triumph of the light. Duration: 4:30Lux in tenebris was premiered in December 2016 by the Chamber Singers of First Community Church (Columbus, Ohio) at the church’s annual Candlelight Christmas concert, and reprised for the Holy Week Tenebrae service in April 2017.
