Thomas Tallis was an English church composer during a time when the country's religion changed from Catholic to Anglican and back again, finally ending with Anglican. This particular piece is based on the Geneva Bible version of John 14:15-17. It is a high beginner piece that uses two octaves of the recorders. It features a simple polyphony, making it a good piece for introducing the skills necessary to play part music.
