I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart is a 1938 composition by Duke Ellington, with lyrics added by Irving Mills, Henry Nemo and John Redmond. The song became a number one hit for Ellington in 1938. Other hit versions the same year were by Benny Goodman (with Martha Tilton singing), Connee Boswell, Hot Lips Page, and Mildred Bailey. It was performed as part of The Cotton Club Parade of 1938. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements - we hope you like what we've done with this grand old tune!

Christmas in Killarney is an Irish-American Christmas song written by John Redmond and Frank Weldon in 1950 and recorded by many artists including Bing Crosby, Dennis Day, Bobby Vinton, Anne Murray and the Irish Rovers and a popular instrumental version by Percy Faith.

 

This arrangement spotlights an SATB Chorus, a full instrumental chorus and then interpolates the Irish folk tune Christmas Day in the Morning featuring the string section in a contrapuntal soli section.

The chorus returns for the finale.
