Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912632 Composed by Johnson Lee. Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Johnson lee #1920997. Published by johnson lee (A0.912632). This tune was premiered at the funeral of the first Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Lee Kuan Yew. This tune pays tribute to the people who have made contributions to this world. Their sacrifice and generosity have enriched us. Their love and spirit is passed on to the future and their example for us to follow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lJP6M6klPkRemarks from my friend Samantha Tang:I like the first half and very last part. Last Part is like a link back to the beginning, like a you went round a full circle, depicting life cycle. Beginning Part is is soothing and gradual; Somewhat like a child starting his life. It builds up and peak like a peak of one's life or career. There is one part I like, sounded like a mix of regrets and acceptance.   When I listen to this piece of music, the word reflections comes to my mind. The second half that sounded bold reminds me of part of one's life where he was leading at his best. Its a peaceful Song with a lot of emotions that developed progressively.Samantha showed this video to a boy with Autism and he calmed down. I was told that the usual Mozart music does not calm him down anymore and he paid no interest. I like the first half and very last part. Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912625 Composed by Johnson Lee. Contemporary. Score and parts. 34 pages. Johnson lee #5301. Published by johnson lee (A0.912625). There are many moments in our lives but none more significant than birth and death. Whilst birth is openly celebrated in our society, death however is treated as dark and sombre.I was moved to compose this piece Laid to Rest as I saw death as a final resting place and the funeral, a celebration of that person’s life as he is sent off on a journey of peace. Hence, this piece takes on a lighter, hopeful yet reflective feel compared to other pieces of heavier, melancholic notes.I was deeply honoured when it was first played / performed at Singapore’s late founding father Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s funeral. I had to control my tears as I was conducting the band and was so grateful for being able to honour him with my composition.During this pandemic, there are many healthcare heroes on the frontline working tirelessly to protect all of us. Some have even sacrificed their lives. I would like to dedicate this to these heroes. May they and their loved ones find comfort in this piece.
