It does not form part of the narrative of the opera but is sung by the character, Hanna, who dressed in traditional Pontevedrin clothes, sings this Pontevedrin song about a Vilia, a beautiful supernatural character who seduces a hapless hunter. It has subsequently become standard concert repertoire for both male and female singers (here in F major, suitable for mezzos and baritones).
