The classic rag-gy figure in the final strain, with its rocking motion between the top tone and the chord beneath in the RH lends additional poiniancy to the music. All-original notes here, but with some respelled chords, No Fb major to Bbb major, for example, and clear syncopation throughout. It is paginated to lay across a music desk with four sheets showing at once. So, print it single-sided for ease of reading, practise and performance. MBB.

I have arranged this popular tune into cut time , from the original 2/4.It is  one of the classics of ragtime, it returned to international prominence as part of the ragtime revival in the 1970s, when it was used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film The Sting. Composer and pianist Marvin Hamlisch's adaptation reached #3 on the Billboard pop chart and spent a week at #1 on the easy listening chartin 1974.The Sting was set in the 1930s, a full generation after the end of ragtime's mainstream popularity, thus giving the inaccurate impression that ragtime music was popular at that time.

These two pieces; Vista Point and Squirrel Creek were inspired by hiking destinations in the mountains of Colorado, to two foundation ruins of lodges built in the 1920s, then later burned down. My thought was that there was surely a piano in these lodges and Scott Joplin pieces were likely among the repertoire of the pianists of that era. These two pieces are scored for classical guitar solo with an optional narration part that tells the history of these lodges. Without narration the set performance time is 8 minutes. With the narration the pieces are played through once with the narration, then repeated without the narration, thus doubling the performance time. Performance demand is advanced intermediate.
