Haydn completed his Symphony No. 101 The clock for it's premiere on 3rd March 1794 at the Hanover Square rooms in London given by an orchestra of sixty players. As with Haydn's other London symphonies the audience was very enthusiastic and Symphony 101, named The Clock (from the ticking rhythm played throughout the second movement marked Andante,) remains very popular today.
