Tarrantella Blue was my attempt to combine a traditional tarantella type of melody and chord structure (found in the Abruzzo region of Italy) with a brooding minimalist/cinematic piano part. The whole work was composed and arranged in one sitting. This version includes a cello part, which was excerpted from the full string quartet accompaniment. Playing this piece “rubato� will require the pianist, mandolinist, and cellist to really listen to each other. This approach would bring out the moodiness that I was trying to convey with this work. This sheet music includes the score and parts.

He was famous for his waltzes, and he popularized them alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for his sons to carry on his musical dynasty. He is best known for his composition of the Radetzky March (named after Joseph Radetzky von Radetz).In 1835 he composed one of his most beautiful waltzes – Elisabethen Walzer.Strauss died in Vienna on 25 September 1849 at the age of 45 from scarlet fever contracted from one of his illegitimate children. He was buried at the Döblinger cemetery beside his friend Joseph Lanner. In 1904, both of their remains were transferred to the graves of honour at the Zentralfriedhof. The former Döbling Cemetery is now a Strauss-Lanner Park. As it turned out, Elise later did something to really upset Beethoven so, out of spite, Beethoven made the end much more difficult than the beginning. As such, I simplified the entire selection, changing mostly the left-hand part to keep it simple for beginning or early intermediate students.
