2 · 2 · 2 · 2 - 2 · 2 · 0 · 0 - 2 P. - Str. violin and orchestra - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7251 Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor. Composed by Robert Schumann. This edition: piano reduction with solo part. Downloadable, Piano reduction with solo part. WoO 1. Duration 32 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7251. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7251). Key: D minor.New performance material of this 19th-century key work is now published as part of the complete critical edition of the works by Robert Schumann, in an excellent notation and with a high editorial standard. For reasons that we still cannot comprehend today, Clara Schumann, supported by Joseph Joachim and Johannes Brahms, suppressed the late works of Robert Schumann and even destroyed some of them. It was not until 1937 that the Violin Concerto in D minor, Schumann's last major work, was brought to the public's attention. With its very own mixture of neo-Baroque style and ambiguous virtuosity, it stands for the unfathomable sides of German Romanticism and already portends the concert aesthetics of the 20th century. Christian Tetzlaff's note on his bowings and fingerings are included in both, the piano redution and the solo part.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1333890 Composed by Robert Schumann (1810-1856). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 19th Century,Chamber,Romantic Period. 6 pages. Cypress Publishing #920169. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1333890). This soulful, contemplative piece, originally for piano three hands (the treble player having only a right hand melody) was quickly adapted for violin and piano, and played in that form at Schumann's funeral by Joseph Joachim and Johannes Brahms. This quartet version actually allows the harmonies to sustain better at slow tempo than in the piano original.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

Cornelius Edition (uk) #1043826. Published by Cornelius Edition (uk) (A0.1465132). J.Raff, a Swiss/German composer was very prolific, and by the end of his life in 1882 was one of the best known German composers, though his work is largely forgotten today. Only one piece, a cavatina for violin and piano, is performed with any regularity and  this is an effective transcription for Clarinet and Piano. An excelent concert item or encore lasting about 4 mins, and an interesting addition to own choice examination pieces.   The piano accompaniment and parts for Bb and A Clarinet are included.

Violin and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53352 Arabian Lament. Composed by Jeno Hubay. Edited by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 5 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53352. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53352). English • German.Hungarian composer and violinist Jenö Hubay, born Eugen Huber, received his musical training in Budapest and made his concert début with Viotti’s Violin Concerto No. 22 in A minor. He spent three years in Berlin, where he studied violin with Joseph Joachim. After his return he met Franz Liszt, who recommended that he travel to Paris. In that city he was a welcome guest at musical salons; he also formed a friendship with Henri Vieuxtemps. Hubay taught groups of violin students first in Brussels, then for a long time in Budapest. For twenty-five years he toured Europe as a virtuoso violinist, settling in Switzerland for a while before returning to Budapest for the rest of his life. His chamber compositions include a series of little pieces very probably written for his own use at musical salons, along with character pieces reminiscent of his Hungarian homeland and exotic pieces such as Plaintes arabes (Arabian Lament), an expressive and mournful lament on the violin. Plate no. 23388, published in 1882.

Small Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Piano Accompaniment,Soprano Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764673 Composed by Robert Schumann (1810-1856). Arranged by James Pybus. Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 6 pages. James Pybus #3112961. Published by James Pybus (A0.764673). Abendlied (Evening Song) is from a cycle of 12 piano duets, Op. 85, written in 1849, a particularly prolific year of composition for Schumann. The great Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim took the final number, consisting merely of a completely unpianistic one-handed melody with chordal accompaniment for two hands, and arranged it for violin, oboe or flute. The present arrangement expands that list of instruments to include the Soprano Saxophone, in its infancy at the time the piece was composed. An alternate part for Alto Saxophone is also included. The soaring, free melody is reminiscent of Schumann’s Manfred music, written around the same time. This piece is very demanding in terms of breath control and phrasing. It is an excellent choice for a college or university recital programme and is also accessible for an advanced high school player. Duration: 2:30. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

Contest,Festival,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 16 pages. Pete Strohm Music #6672693. Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.928173). Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 4, expertly arranged by American composer P. F. Strohm for a trio consisting of two tenor trombones and piano. Strohm has placed the first six of these musical gems into a new setting of two trombones and piano, drawing from the original piano score; from the violin and piano arrangements made by Brahms' friend, Joseph Joachim; and from Brahms' own solo piano arrangements. These new arrangements are for skilled performers on all parts. Written for and dedicated to Mark Kellogg and Larry Zalkind at the Eastman School of Music, the dances are excellent for recitals and contests, and make wonderful encores.
