Composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Baroque,Christmas. Score and parts. 57 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6301461. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553945).

Charpentier wrote a lot of music for Christmas: oratorios on Christmas themes, pastorals, noels, and a lovely Midnight Mass for Christmas.

He arranged a lot of French Christmas Carols (Noels) as 2 suites _ Noels sur les instruments and Noels pour les instruments for a string orchestra and 2 flutes/recorders.

This is my transcription of the Noëls sur les instruments for standard wind dectet and bass

They are 6 pieces :

Les Bourgeois de Chastre (The Townsfolk of Chastre)

Où s'en vont ces gais bergers (Where are the merry shepherds going?)

Joseph est bien marié (Joseph is happily married)

Or nous dites Marie (But, tell us Mary)

A la venue de Noël (With the coming of Christmas)

Une jeune pucelle (A young maid/virgin/girl)

This is purely the order they are shown in his manuscript.

They appear in his Midnight Mass in the following order:

(This follows the Christmas Story)

Joseph est bien marié (Joseph is happily married)

Or nous dites Marie (But, tell us Mary)

Une jeune pucelle (A young maid/virgin/girl)

Les Bourgeois de Chastre (The Townsfolk of Chastre)

Où s'en vont ces gais bergers (Where are the merry shepherds going?)

Composed by Joseph Haydn/Leopold Mozart. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Children,Christmas,Classical,Standards. 35 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6050327. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553894).

This work was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn, but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart. Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work.

Recent research on a newly found manuscript suggests the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740–1794) to be the author. If Angerer's manuscript (from 1765, entitled Berchtolds-Gaden Musick) is the original, the Toy Symphony was originally written not in G but rather in C. These findings, however, are disputed among scholars. There is reason to believe that the true composer will likely never be known, in whole or in part, given its confused origins and the paucity of related manuscript sources.

Even without a name attached to it, the piece has become a mainstay for children's shows and Christmastime concerts. Each of its three movements features the sounds of actual toys and instruments that sound like they came straight from Geppetto's workshop.

The piece calls for a toy trumpet, ratchet, nightingale, cuckoo, drum, and triangle. ( A quail makes it’s only appearance in the 2nd movement.

Noisemakers rattle throughout the first of its three movements.

The cuckoo and trumpet  call out mischievously during the minuetto of the second movement , and a quail joins the nightingale in the trio.

In the short third mvt which is played 3 times, they all play again, each repeat faster than the previous one.

The presence of the toy instruments make this a fun piece for children to play, especially when there are also some toys waiting under the tree.

My arrangement is based on the Kinder-Symphonie attributed to Leopold Mozart. It is scored in C.
It is in 3 mvts and is arranged for wind quintet, and toy percussion.

It can be peformed as a stand alone  wind quintet without percussion as all of the important cues (the trumpet and cuckoo) are written in to the instrumnt parts.
i have distributed the original strings around the woodwind, and composed an original classical horn part.

Sometimes known as The Children’s Symphony

Also available as a wind dectet/bass arrangement.

Composed by M Haydn. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical. Score and parts. 19 pages. RayThompsonMusic #5954953. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555862).

Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of Joseph Haydn, was born in 1737 in the Austrian village of Rohrau. Following in his brother's footsteps he trained at the choir school of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna where he was thought to be a brighter student than Joseph. After leaving the choir-school, he was first appointed as Kapellmeister at Nagyvárad in Romania and then, in 1762, at Salzburg where he stayed until his death in 1805, composing church and instrumental music.

The Turkish March is scored for wind instruments and percussion. Mock Turkish music was very popular during the classical period, and was famously exploited by Mozart in his opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Haydn's work is typical of the genre having bright lively melodies given an exotic flavour through the addition of untuned percussion, particularly cymbals. (Originally scored for double wind quintet, two trumpets and percussion)

My arrangement is scored for double wind quintet and bass.(no trumpets or percussion)

All essential trumpet solos are covered by the other winds.

Horn parts are in G as the original.
I have written a bass part to add depth to the piece.

Composed by Steven H. Boothe. Arranged by Ashley Ivers. Christian,Sacred. Accompaniment. Duration 231. Boothe Publishing #5984125. Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.1069995).

Fourteen year old Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees to pray and ask God for help to know which church was true, and which one he should join. God and His son Jesus Christ appeared to him and spoke to him face to face. With the appearance of God and His son to the boy Joseph Smith, there was once again a prophet on the earth. This event came to be called the first vision. This vision proved to Joseph Smith that God is not dead. God and His son Jesus Christ are alive and love us today. They have not left us alone here in the world to work out our own salvation. The greatest teachers and preachers of our times cannot save us for they are subject to death. Only Jesus Christ could and did break the bands of death. God talks to us today through His prophets. He does not speak to us through those who say He is gone and has left them in charge. The only way to find truth about God is to study His doctrine and then talk with Him. Ask Him if what you are learning is true. With 4,300 Christian religions on the earth today, we can know through revelation from God which is His true church. There can be only one. God told Joseph that He had a great work for him to do. God sent an angel who revealed to Joseph plates of gold. These plates of Gold were records kept by Israelite prophets in ancient America. God brought them to this land of promise before the Jews were carried away captive into Babylon. I know this is true. You can read the Book of Mormon. You can ask God for yourself if it is true. Then you too can know, for God will answer your prayer.
