This is the beautiful Meditation for violin from Massenet's opera, Thaïs, arranged with guitar accompaniment.  The violin part has not been altered, and many violinists might prefer to play from parts they have in their personal libraries.  The guitar part is straight-forward and perhaps not as difficult as some other arrangements, using standard tuning (rather than the tempting scordatura for pieces in D), and staying in the lower positions where possible.  Chord symbols have been added for reference, and perhaps make the piece accessible to guitarists who don't read standard musical notation.

This meditative music from the Opera Thais by Jules Massenet is most often heard as a violin solo, even though the original music appears as a symphonic intermezzo between the scenes of Act II of the Opera. As part of the Opera's plot, this underscoring music plays during a silent time of reflection for the main character as she is contemplating a major decision regarding her future. Thus, the contemplative nature of the melody. The arrangement here is intended for Solo Unaccompanied Cello. The key has been changed to adapt better to the cello range, and both a shorter and a longer version have been penned.
