SKU: A0.1275410

Composed by Karen K Almquist. Children,Folk,Instructional,Latin,Multicultural,World. Score. 4 pages. Karen K. Almquist #867331. Published by Karen K. Almquist (A0.1275410).

This sweet lullaby in ABA form is written in  G major. It modulates to E minor in the B section.  It features parallel thirds in the right hand with three note rolled chords at the ends of phrases.  The meter is in common time.  The  right hand melodic rhythm imitates the sound of  maracas.  It is sometimes varied by the use of triplets or ritenuto.  The left hand plays a typical Spanish sounding ostinato bass pattern.

The melody is singable and the flow of the rhythm feels like swaying or rocking.

The four page piece can be played as a  piano or harp solo.  Latin American instruments such as claves, maracas and guiro could be added as a program piece.   It is an early intermediate level.

Composed by Traditional Christmas Carol. Arranged by Karen Almquist. Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Score and parts. 7 pages. Published by Karen K. Almquist (A0.506990).

What Child is This (also known as Greensleeves) is an early intermediate duet for pedal harp. It begins with a music box effect and builds to a triumphant chorus. The Harp 1 part uses both hands in the treble clef. At the chorus, Harp 1 builds to forte playing glissandos and triads doubled in both hands. Harp 2 plays eighth note arpeggios in the treble clef at the beginning. At the chorus it alternates LH octaves and RH chords in the bass clef for a full sound.
