The opera tells the story of the Biblical account of Samson and Delilah from the book of Judges. Samson has been given unnatural strength and has become a mortal enemy of the Babylonians. Delilah seeks to seduce Samson in an effort to get him to reveal the source of his strength, allowing the Babylonians to capture and humiliate him. The Danse Bacchanale represents this interaction between Samson and Delilah, telling the story of their relationship, the seduction, and the eventual capture. It ends with the “bacchanale�, a wildly celebratory dance.

The harmonies and attention to details aim at helping the pianist to best communicate the truths of the hymn. The biggest difference in this arrangment from the Getty's recording is the intro and interludes that make reference to the old hymn 'Take My Life and Let it Be Consecrated'. Ideal for preludes and/or prayer time.
