Süßer die Glocken nie klingen (Sweeter the bells never sound) is a popular Austrian carol with text by Friedrich Wilhelm Kritzinger to a traditional Volkslied (folk song) melody, first printed in 1860. This version is taken from the Vienna Boys Choir for both the lyric and the melody. I’ve arranged it for tenor and treble where the treble takes the melody for the first two verses but for the final verse the tenor takes over the tune while the treble sings what might be considered a descant.
