A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon was originally scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo playing an ostinato pattern, repeating the same harmonic progression throughout the entire composition.Regis Bookshar has now arranged this composition for a Euphonium Trio, written in Bass Clef, which play the melody in canon and a Keyboard instrument, either a Piano or Organ, which plays the ostinato pattern.
