He had a small choir that sang the songs and he put the words on the screen for everyone to sing along (an early form of closed captioning). The albums he created were single LPs but it was contained in a double LP jacket so he could put the words on the inside covers. This is probably one of the biggest Christmas songs he ever did. Hal Moore and Bill Fredricks (the composer) gave Mitch this song to be premiered on his show. In the arrangement the voices follow the recording (verses are unison and chorus is in 2-part harmony). And then when it goes into the first key change the voices split into 4 parts.
