Lamb of God for Sinners Wounded is a handbell duet arrangement of the hymn tune O MEIN JESU, ICH MUSS STERBEN which is often associated with the hymn text Stricken, Smitten and Afflicted. This contemplative duet is written for 3 octaves of handbells. The mournful nature of the piece begins with a single singing bell before developing into an emotional piece. This sensitive setting builds in fervor before ending on an open octave as the story is not yet finished. An excellent piece for Lent or Holy Week, the hymn text centers on Isaiah 53:3-6.
