Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587373 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by David McKeown. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #3222135. Published by David McKeown (A0.587373). Le Cygne, or The Swan, is the penultimate movement of Camille Saint-Saens’ 1886 suite, Carnival of the Animals. Most often played as a solo piece for cello with piano, the original version was scored for solo instrument and two pianos. It was the only movement for the Carnival that the composer allowed to be heard in public during his lifetime. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in its constant semiquaver arpeggios. The overall performance time is around three minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with expressive playing. The legato in both parts demand precise fingers.   There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.997780 By Kathi Kerr. By Kathi Kerr. Broadway,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 4 pages. Melody Music Publishers #603457. Published by Melody Music Publishers (A0.997780). This piano song for the early advanced pianist is heavy on syncopation in the left hand. Con brio means literally with fire. Notice the accents on the last half of the 4th beat in the left hand throughout the song. Start by practicing the left hand alone until mastered. When playing hands together, practice slowly at first, aligning each note in both hands. Watch the fingering in the triads starting measure 26 where you change the finger while holding the note. This fingering makes the top notes legato, creating a legato sound even though the middle and bottom notes are not. Take off the low G in the right hand chord on measures 32 and 33 if you can't reach it. And finally, drag the quarter triplet at the end.

French Horn,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767581 Composed by Mike Lyons. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and part. 38 pages. Lyons Music Services #6457097. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767581). This is my third new sonata for French horn. it has three movements as follows:   Movement 1: Dance It begins with a crotchet theme which forms the basis of the rest of the movement. The opening should be stately and measured, but not slow. The echoes should be as quiet as possible for each statement of the opening motif. I have made a lot of use of rhythmic features in this movement. After the Maestoso, the 12/8 section is in the nature of a jig, with lots of repeated pitches and very rhythmical There's much use of syncopation. After I have played around with these ideas (intervals based on the opening) there is a more legato tune, also based on the opening music, but in a grander style and marked nobilmente. This is almost a processional, and leads to a reprise of the jig motifs in a new mode and with modifications to the rhythm. The second movement of this sonata is a set of 3 variations on an original tune. The melody is quite hymn-like and needs to be played as such. Very legato, with very slight tongue. Variation 1 is an 8th note variation, with a slight increase in tempo to help it to flow. The player will need to pay close attention to the written phrasing so as not to lose the theme. This variation is p throughout. Variation 2 is a triplet/sextuplet variation, again with a slight increase in tempo. This variation has turns, which I have written out in ossias above to be clear how I would like it to be played. Variation 3 is a semiquaver and glissando variation, requiring good tongue technique and clear phrasing. Breathing should be easy as I have made provision for breaths to mark the ends of phrases. Please don't change these! Finally, there is a restatement of the original theme with slight adaptations to bring the movement to a quiet finish. The third and final movement of the sonata is a rondo. The opening music keeps returning throughout the length of the movement. It comprises a stuttering rhythmic phrase with alternating upwards and downwards scales which gradually build up throughout the opening of the movement. Each time the ritornello idea returns it has been altered in some way. Between the ritornelli are slightly less frenetic sections of cantabile melodic ideas which hark back to both the first and second movements as well as referencing the scalic ideas from the third movement. Although the music is fast, it should be playable without resorting to triple tonguing.

Tuba Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.991806 Composed by Jason Allie. Romantic Period,World. Individual part. 14 pages. Joaba LLC #3129601. Published by Joaba LLC (A0.991806). Description Total Duration: 11 minutes. A vigorous, advanced level work suitable for encouraging students, hobbyists and professionals to improve or show off their performance skills.  In an enjoyable and delightful manner, tubists will build dexterity, endurance, expressiveness, effective volume and range (going up to D/C# above the staff). This work will charm, captivate, and rouse/impress audiences.  A great recital piece or encore piece to show off the melodiousness, harmoniousness and vibrancy of the tuba in whole or in part.  Please send feedback, praises and more to contact@joaba.com. Performance Notes from the Composer Édesen Édesen translates to sweetly in Hungarian, and is this movement’s purpose: to be a centering, calming moment before the following tumult. The first 10 bars serve as an introduction to warm up to the melody. The melody has three contrasting articulations that must be respected: staccato, legato, and normal.  The melody easily leads to high and low range notes-excellent for beginner/intermediate tubists to expand and solidify their range.  Give more air for the range’s extremities so pitches don’t become too thin or muddled. The second theme in the dominant (E major) should be played with luscious legato and bright staccato. LassanLassan translates to slowly in Hungarian usually conveying stateliness or seriousness.  This argumentative movement breaks the former’s idyll and sets the case for the next movement’s defiance and victory. The first section is to be played serious and strong.  Increase air support for the higher pitches.  Make the descending scales resound and bounce off the lowest notes.  The second theme starting at 81 should be played with great charm and ease. For the solo passages, show-off but slow the tempo into the fermatas: (m77-80, m102-103, and m132-133). Friska Friska translates to fresh in Hungarian and in this case, it’s a duality of turbulence and final elation.Start the piece fast, but not too boisterous-embellishments are added in the repeat demanding boisterousness.  Epitomizing the turbulence, the con moto sections (at m161 & m260) emphasize a 1 beat per measure feel-accelerate the tempo as is comfortable.  The digressionary, crab-like sections (at m176 & m275) should be played as light as possible to help build up to the elated sections.  The first elated section (m188) should be played as if gleefully discovered but not yet won; the second elated section (m291), with a victorious finality that cannot be diminished or tarnished.

Oboe, clarinet, bassoon - Digital Download SKU: IZ.BCMS171 Composed by Sy Brandon. BCMCC (Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition). Score and Parts. 69 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #BCMS171. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.BCMS171). 9 x 12 in inches.Divertimento is in three movements. The first movement, Frolic, has three main thematic ideas. The first contains dotted rhythms, staccato articulation, and meter change. The second thematic idea is related to the first in that it also uses dotted rhythms and meter change, but is more legato and begins with more sustained notes. The third thematic section is thinner in texture, more playful, and has a legato theme over a staccato background. The motivic material in each of these sections has similarities. Contrast is primarily obtained through change of style and mood. These thematic ideas develop throughout the movement by varying key, instrumentation, and melodic material. There are several sections of imitation that are very energetic. The second movement, Ballad, is lyrical at an Andante tempo. The form of the movement is through-composed as the motives develop into new variations instead of having clearly distinguished themes. There is however a recapitulation that brings the listen back to the opening material. The main motives that develop are a sixteenth note pattern that is arpeggiated and also stepwise, a dotted quarter and eighth note idea that is often on weak beats as well as appearing on strong beats, and scalewise eighth note lines. All of these interweave among the parts with frequent counterpoint and some imitation. The harmony is lush with seventh chords used frequently. The last movement, Tarantella, is in a lively tempo. The form of this movement is a large ABA(Scherzo, Trio, Scherzo). The A sections are in triple meter while the B section is in duple. The A section is in three parts, forming an ABA within the large A. The material for the first part is motivically derived. The first motive is a dotted eighth, sixteenth, eighth note followed by even eighth notes. The second motive is four chromatic sixteenth notes followed by an eighth note. This motive appears both ascending and descending. The B section within this large A consists of a slurred melodic line that has both stepwise motion and leaps. It is accompanied by staccato chromatic eighth notes. The large B section is folksong-like and is in a recognizable binary form that repeats in a new key. The large A serves as a recapitulation of the opening section and it ends lightly and playfully in keeping with the Divertimento title that means to divert or amuse.
