So geht es u.a. um Atmungsprobleme bei langen Legatopassagen und gehaltenen Tonen in der tiefen Lage des Instruments, um Sauberkeit der Intonation bei den feinen Schwebungen von Sekundklangen, Quinten und Oktaven und um Wendigkeit bei schnellen Sprungen. Musikalisch war es die Absicht des Komponisten, echte Duette zu schreiben, Formen, die erst durch das Zusammenwirken von zwei Instrumenten wirklich lebendig und erkennbar werden.
