E-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549896 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #3603419. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549896). Score: 12 pages, piano part: 6 pages, alto clarinet part: 4 pages. duration: ca. 5'. Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com This is the famous wedding march from Op. 61 composed in 1842 and commonly performed as a recessional march at the end of a wedding. The piece was originally composed for orchestra then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself. Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used for a wedding in 1858 Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words.  Artistic Standing  Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was all of a sudden baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his major works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his methodical mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. C.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1208520 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contest,Festival,Wedding. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #806617. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1208520). 5. Allegro ma non troppo.Beethoven's Bagatelles Op. 33 are quite typical of his early style, retaining many compositional features of the early Classical period.  The first bagatelle in particular is arguably one of Beethoven's most well-known pieces. While they may seem light-hearted and not to be taken too seriously, they are still well-crafted works that embody the younger Beethoven's style. The Bagatelles Op. 33 were composed by Beethoven in 1801-02 and published in 1803. Bagatelles are shorter and less complex than sonatas, often consisting of a single movement. They were intended to be played as light entertainment or as encores at the end of a concert.Bagatelle No. 5 of Beethoven's Op. 33 is a short piece that showcases the composer's mastery of melody and harmony. The piece is in the key of C major and is written in a simple ternary form, with a lively and playful opening theme that is followed by a contrasting middle section in the homotonic key of C minor. The opening theme is characterized by its use of syncopation, which give it a lively and energetic feel. The middle section, on the other hand, is more introspective and lyrical, with a more subdued and melancholic mood. The piece ends with a return to the opening theme, which is now played in a surprising and forceful manner. Overall, Bagatelle No. 5 is a charming and delightful piece that showcases Beethoven's skill in creating memorable melodies and harmonies within a concise and compact form.

Medium voice and piano - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8677-E Composed by Steven Mark Kohn. 27 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8677-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8677-E). English. The texts for these songs are adapted from Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914), one of America’s most fearless and biting satirists. It is safe to say that these songs are probably not for every performer. They require a good dose of theatrical dash and a bit of raw nerve, not exactly your formal recital staples. While they do have a suggestively masculine tone, a female singer with the right irreverence and attitude could certainly bring them off. (The composer suggests that these three songs be performed as a set as opposed to individually. They were constructed to achieve a certain balance as a set.) Duration 10:00Contents:1. Are your students ready for more intermediate or advanced band repertoire, yet the band’s limited instrumentation holds them back? My Limited or Full series is geared toward the success of small bands with limited instrumentation. These pieces aim at giving small bands more advanced music within the framework of a young band arrangement. If you like the music, these pieces also sound great with a larger full instrumentation.PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, soulful is defined as full of or expressing feeling or emotion. In a soulful manner, the piece begins with the familiar song When Peace Like a River. This soulful hymn insists on finding peace, regardless of the world’s sorrows. The music then moves to a majestic trumpet processional. Entitled Soulful Peace, this tune honors those who made it possible for us to feel peace: parents, caregivers, family members, mentors, teachers, friends, and veterans who have served our country. Whether we feel the soulful melody in honor of them or in their memory, they remain an important part of our peace. After shifting to a calming woodwind verse, the processional then crescendos to a very emotive, full band verse. After the climax, the processional settles and gives way to a delicate chorus of It is Well With My Soul. The hymn tune begins delicately in the flutes, yet the brass echo the stately processional. The hymn majestically builds toward its own climax, accompanied by a trumpet fanfare. This triumphant piece reminds us that it can indeed be Well With My Soul!.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.840947 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler. Arranged by Richard Decker. Chamber,Early Music,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. 62 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #447653. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.840947). Hans Leo Hassler (1562-1612) was truly a Renaissance man.  Not only was he a noted composer of sacred (Roman Catholic and Protestant) and secular music both instrumental and vocal, but he was also a talented organist, Kappelmeister in various churches and cities, music businessman and additionally involved in the construction and manufacture of mechanical musical instruments.  Though spending most of his professional life in German (Augsburg, Nuremburg and Dresden), Hassler studied with Andrea Gabrieli in Venice alongside fellow student Giovanni Gabrieli.  These three vocal works highlight his integration of the leading compositional styles of the time including his foray into significant chromaticism in his Ad Dominum, cum tribularer.  Brass quintets will find these three vocal transcriptions a welcome addition to the literature and concert repertoire. The arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets with optional C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition.See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Instrumental Solo,Piano and Keyboard - Level 5 - Interactive Download SKU: A0.1281392 Composed by Alta Mihartescu. This edition: Interactive Download. Classical. Individual part. 18 pages. Duration 127. Alta Mihartescu #48bYy1p4UyCAz5nZym0MPG. Published by Alta Mihartescu (A0.1281392). Key: C major.Eddies of Time is a captivating contemporary piano piece that defies traditional musical boundaries. Composed using 20th-century techniques, it eschews conventional meter, offering a fluid and unanchored exploration of time and space. The title itself, Eddies of Time, evokes images of swirling currents and ceaseless motion. This imagery is masterfully translated into sound, as the piece flows and undulates without the constraints of a fixed rhythmic structure. The absence of meter allows for a more organic and intuitive connection between the performer and the music, creating a unique and immersive listening experience. Drawing inspiration from avant-garde composers of the 20th century, the piece employs extended piano techniques, such as inside-the-piano playing, unconventional fingerings, and the use of various objects to alter the instrument's timbre. These techniques contribute to a rich and complex sonic palette that challenges traditional notions of melody and harmony. The structure of Eddies of Time is equally unconventional, with sections that ebb and flow, mirroring the natural movement of water. Themes are introduced, then reappear in altered forms, creating a sense of continuity and transformation. The composer's use of dissonance and atonality adds to the piece's modern character, providing tension and release in unexpected ways. Performing Eddies of Time requires not only technical prowess but also a deep understanding of the emotional and philosophical underpinnings of the work. The pianist must navigate the score with sensitivity and intuition, allowing the music to unfold naturally, like the eddying currents of a river. In Eddies of Time, the listener is invited to embark on a musical journey that transcends conventional form and meter. It's a piece that resonates with the restless spirit of the 20th century, reflecting a world in constant flux and a timeless fascination with the mysteries of existence.
