If you but think It will go on ... Going for ever, This time of love This time for lovers, You’re for a fall, My little girl, You’re for a fall If you maintain You will retain Fine blushing skin And waist cinched in Delicate arms Fine varnished nails Tender of thigh And fleet of foot, And if you think my sweet It will be true Going for you You're for a fall My little girl, You're for a fall. Gone the good days, Pleasure and holidays. Planets in orbit Circle around But you my sweet You will go straight Toward the unknown And overblown with sagging skin and treble chin Heavy with fat and flesh that's slack Come gather ye roses Look ye around, My little one Blossoms abound Let them repose On the slack tide Of every happiness. So, gather them all Or you'll be sure Pride comes before a fall.

Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1409344 Composed by Socrates Arvanitakis. 21st Century,Classical,Traditional. 68 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #991969. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1409344). GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕΝΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). In the middle section the main melody will be played in the lower voice and the original guitar contrapuntal voice will be used in the upper voice if by chance it includes invertible counterpoint, otherwise new material will be added to fit the rules but also the intended harmony. The total collection is centred more on the music from mainland Greece and less in that from the Islands. The three dance rhythms of Kalamatianos (7/8), Tsamikos (3/4), and Syrtos Balos (2/4) are predominant in the whole first collection.TECHNICALSeparate parts have been included and they can be extracted as separate files with any free PDF editing programme on line.Empty pages have been added for inclusion/deletion at will and left-right hand page arrangement.Thematic Index with active internal links for ease of navigation have been added.Audio file (mp3) has been addedCONTENTS210 ΡΟΪΔΩ Η (Rhoedo)211 ΡΟΥΣΑ Η (The Red Haired One)212 ΣΑΪΝΤΑΓΑΣ Ο (Saidaghas)213 ΣΑΜΑΡΙΝΑ (Samarina)214 ΣΑΜΙΩΤΙΣΣΑ - The Lass from Samos215 ΣΑΝ ΤΙ ΤΟ ΘΕΛ' Η ΜΑΝΑ ΣΟΥ (What Does Your Mother Want That for)216 ΣΑΡΑΝΤΑ ΠΑΛΛΗΚΑΡΙΑ 1 (Forty Brave Lads 1)217 ΣΑΡΑΝΤΑ ΠΑΛΛΗΚΑΡΙΑ 2 (Forty Brave Lads 2)218 ΣΑΡΑΝΤΑΠΕΝΤΕ ΛΕΜΟΝΙΕΣ (Forty Five Lemon Trees)219 ΣΓΟΥΡΟΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΟΣ (Frizzy Basil)220 ΣΕ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΙ ΘΕ ΝΑ ΜΠΩ (I Will Enter An Orchard)221 ΣΕ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΙ ΜΠΑΙΝΩ 1 (I Go Into The Orchard 1)222 ΣΕ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΙ ΜΠΑΙΝΩ 2 in A (I Enter the Orchard 2)223 ΣΕ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΙ ΜΠΑΙΝΩ 3 in E (I Enter the Orchard 3)224 ΣΕ ΩΡΑΙΟ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΙ (In A Beautiful Orchard)225 ΣΗΜΩ ΛΥΓΕΡΗ (Simo The Graceful).

Brass Ensemble E-Flat Tuba TC,Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767368 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 77 pages. Lyons Music Services #3557567. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767368). At long last I have nearly finished the 7th book. This book has posed some issues as it is such complex music it is almost impossible to cut it down to 5 parts while maintaining its integrity. As a result, some songs will be in 6 or more parts. This section of the 7th book is really a miniature scena (although Monteverdi describes it as a ballet), telling the story of Tirsi and Clori (Thyrsis and Chloris) two lovers from ancient greek myths. This piece is the final section of Tirsi e Clori, which Monteverdi describes as the Ballo (Dance) where all the characters in the story provide a spectacle of celebration at the end of the performance. There is a short (12 measure) section forming an introduction at a slow tempo, followed by a 1-in-a-bar dance, a change occurs at measure 113 to simple duple time before returning to a rousing reprise of the lively 3/2 music. The whole is brought to a rousing conclusion with a long cadence in what is rapidly approaching the Baroque style. The instruments are divided between two 'choirs' a 5-part one, representing the singers (Cantus,Quintus, Alto, Tenor and Bass) and a four part accompanying group representing the continuo. There is also an optional percussion part, as the original would have been so accompanied, even though it was not notated in the score. At just over 8 minutes in length, this is a great finisher for a concert - or, in the right circumstances, a starter - especially as Monteverdi has made the ending very loud and full. The seventh book has been a challenge. The much more intricate music, showing Monteverdi's development towards a true operatic technique requires a really careful study of his orchestrations. It has been a great pleasure to set this music and I hope lots of ensembles will 'give it a go'!

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.809714 Composed by Robert E. Proctor. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz. Score and parts. 128 pages. R. E. Proctor #2102129. Published by R. E. Proctor (A0.809714). A concerto for Double Bass and orchestra in the traditional fast - slow – fast concerto format. While not overly challenging for the bass soloist, it does explore, to a degree, the upper reaches of the instrument as well as sounding the beautiful low range.   The first movement is that might be called Neo – Classical, opening with an 8-measure solo in a Largo or slow tempo.  The tempo then changes to Allegro (fast) for the balance of the movement.  The movement ends as it began with the double bass playing alone. The second movement is a jazz waltz.  In 9/8, it opens with the soloist playing pizzicato against a rhythmic cord progression. The bass and cello sections pick this up to provide a ground upon which the balance of the movement is played over. The second movement is in the relative minor of Bb which is G minor. A haunting melody is introduced by the bass and doubled by the strings. This melody is replayed by various instruments as the Bass Soloist plays variations on this theme. The harp and the bass solo end the movement.   The third movement leans toward French Impressionism.  This movement is Andantino; however, it is a spirited. Written in cut time, where the half note equals 92 beats per minute. The melody is introduced by the woodwinds with the harp accompanying. The strings and brass join in as the woodwinds repeat the melody. Finally, the bass solo takes charge of the melody using it as a theme and variation. The harp is used extensively in this concerto providing harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic support for the bass. Written in 2015, the concerto is a new work, however, it is not experimental music. It uses the standard orchestral instruments playing in the standard fashion. It is replete with modern harmonic sounds and chord progressions. As concerto's go, this one is not overly difficult providing the bassist with a starting point as a soloist.  It does require the soloist to have some mastery over the instrument as the music traverses most of the instrument’s range.  Performance time is approximately 13 minutes and 10 seconds.

Instrumental Duet Cello,Double Bass,Instrumental Duet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.800220 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Samantha J Bramley - stringspirational@gmail.com. Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and parts. 10 pages. Samantha Bramley #6014499. Published by Samantha Bramley (A0.800220). Gymnopédie No. 1, by Erik Satie for ‘cello quartet plus continuo (‘cello or bass) This iconic piano piece is one of the most recognisable and widely used classical pieces in the popular repertoire. It is both beautifully simple and elegant making this arrangement accessible to ensembles of beginner/early intermediate standard. Each of the 4 'cello parts has a turn at the melody, and the very easy ‘continuo’ can be played by either ‘cello or double bass. All parts are written in bass clef and none go above 4th position making it perfect for student groups. I like to play it with all ‘cello parts muted (con sordini) but mutes are generally not used on double bass. If playing with both ‘cello 5 and bass, try sempre pizzicato in the bass part for an interesting effect. Note from the arranger: All my arrangements for 'cello quartet, quintet and sextet are conceived specifically with the range and technical capabilities of the 'cello in mind - no simple transpositions or re-orchestrations of string quartet scores. They are therefore both easily playable and enjoyable by any intermediate to advanced 'cello ensemble. Most parts do not go beyond 4th position, making them equally suitable for student, mixed ability groups or ‘cello choirs. A complete score and set of individual parts is included. I also specialise in string arrangements giving the ‘cello and viola a fair share of the limelight! Contact Samantha at stringspirational@gmail.com for more information.
