She calls herself Claire here in America.  This is the second work I have written for her.  The first was Trio 803 (2020) for clarinet, cello and piano.  I am calling this one, a duo for cello and piano, Éclair, as a pun on her American name; plus I know Claire loves desserts!!!   Additionally, every time when I exclaim OMG!!!  Claire!!!, I feel like I have been struck by lightning.  LOL!!! My arrangement is a tribute to the old Fat's Waller recording. It's not copied from that rendition at all but I have arranged it as a stride piano piece and hope it exudes some of the joy that Mr Waller brought to it.I take it through three iterations in C, Db and D major, going up a semi-tone each time - so plenty of practice in trickier keys. I don't include dynamics in my notation nor fingering and pedalling as I prefer to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist. You will never get two piano teachers to agree on these things. I like to give the reader the notes as simply as possible and leave the interpretation up to them. Similarly with voicings - some notes will be held longer instinctively by the pianist than others and do not need to be placed in separate voicings to make them difficult to read.The stride piano left hand often contains 10ths which can be too large a span for some pianists. The solution is to roll them or to just play them as a single bass note on the root of the chord or as an octave.This is a wonderfully joyous piece and I hope you get as much pleasure from learning and playing it as I did arranging it.

The marimbas rocks us slowly In Dream.After sudden movements in the vibraphone we are happily strolling on the cobble stones, sun shining and children riding their bikes across the streets not noticing the rocky ride.Bells chime in the distance and the world – or the dream – vanish. As sudden as it started it is gone.The dissonance of the beginning is now gone and our sleep is peaceful and calm - or is it..? JESUS WAS WALKING is a sermon song based on the sermon On the Way to Jerusalem preached by Dr. Paul de Jong at First  Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers Florida, on December 3, 2023.  It is an arrangement of the children's song, Walking With Jesus which I first learned in French in Haiti in 1965. I have seen it with cartoons on the internet in Portugese, Spanish and Japanese.  My lyrics are anything but childlike.  They portray what Mark 10:32-52 tells of the march of Jesus to Jerusalem, where he lays out to the tone deaf disciples that he will be delivered to the priests, and Gentiles, killed, but on the third day he would arise from the dead. And having heard this, James and John ignore his message and want to know who will sit on his right and left when his kingdom comes.  He has to correct them that his kingdom was not like that of the Gentiles.  The other ten disciples rebuke James and John, but Jesus teaches them that to be great, one must be a servant to all. Finally, a blind man comes forward asking a favor, but unlike  James and John, he only asks in humility that he might see. His faith heals him and the march goes on.Guitar chords are provided and an autoharp would be appropriate.
