Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891905 Composed by Stephen Davies. Contemporary. 39 pages. Stephen Davies #3471399. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891905). As the title suggests, this suite of 7 short pieces is based on various simple scales, arpeggios and articulation, yuk! the things that usually turns people off! This suite is written with that in mind, and each of the 7 pieces are varied in styles, and are fun to play, there's even a little screaming involved too! It works well with more than 1 player per part. Really for the education of young players from 8-99!

Part of Cheryl Prazak's Military Trilogy, this is a story of parental advice to a grown child who's become down on their luck. This is a piano/vocal arrangment. Music, arranging and production by Jon Burr The Lyric:Everything was fine, not so very long ago.I had a weekly paycheck, I was rolling in the dough.I had a truck, got me where I needed to go.I didn’t know how much I had, ‘til things began to blow.Everything was fine, then my tire picked up a tack. The rubber was so thin, you see, it really set me back.“What’s the problem now?†was all my boss would say,Gave me my last paycheck, and sent me on my way…So, here I am remembering, not so long ago,I had a weekly paycheck, I was rolling in the dough.I had my pick-up truck back then, had a shirt. and had a wife.I didn’t know how little I had because, well, that was life.Sleeping in my pick-up truck, the light began to dawn.I would go back home, before my last chance was blown.I would tell my loving folks, at last I saw the light, My prospects didn’t look so good, my future, none too bright.Could they start me off again, with tuition and the such, andhelp me get a-brand new tire, for my raggedy ol’ truck? If they could be so kind, as to set me on my way, I would do my very best, their kindness to repayConsider the military, said my folks, sounding wisethey told me I need extra time, didn’t mean to criticizeMaybe they were onto something, maybe that could helpWhy, oh, why didn’t I think of that myself?Military life’s not easy, as I learned from the start, but I came out much the better, and learned to have some heart.Well, I’m that better man now, after going through all this. Finally got my life in shape, it had been so amiss.I repaid my folks’ advice, as I promised that I would,Became the son they hoped for, the man they knew I could. We often go to see them, and they visit the wife and me,Now they’re contented grandfolks, with babies on each knee!Once upon a time, when I was really stuck, I went back home to see the folks, which became a day of luck.Military service, I’m glad I took it up.Life changed for me, when I stopped sleeping in that ol’ truck.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1290220 By Les Baxter. By Jack Lawrence, Marguerite Monnot, and Rene Gustave Rouzaud. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 20th Century,Barbershop,Comedy,Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 7 pages. Martyn Johnson #880927. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1290220). This is my piano version of the tune Poor People of Paris (La Goualante Du Pauvre Jean). It is a feel good stride piano version in the spirit of the pianist Winnifred Attwell. I was also in mind of the iconic version done by Edith Piaf also. It contains a little interlude in the style of JS Bach that I hope will amuse. The left hand can be tricky at speed but single notes can be played instead of octaves and tenths and the chords can be simplified without losing the overall style.I haven't included dynamic markings and fingerings, leaving this choice to the individual pianist. Likewise with the use of sustain pedal. Seldom can you get two pianists to agree on these things! Please note this is a solo piano version and does not contain notation of the other instruments on my YouTube video. It was however written for solo piano and sounds just as good with or without other instruments.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767273 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 16 pages. Lyons Music Services #3218683. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767273). As part of my continuing project to transcribe Monteverdi's madrigals onto winds, here is the 6th book. In this book we see a much greater development towards dramatic representation. In a way, this book is divisible into two Scenes with a number of single items in between. The vocal lines are all much more complex and we can also see the beginnings of monodic writing appear in the semi-recit sections of some of the songs. Also clearly developing are delineations of the voices into soloists and chorus. Several songs in this book are almost akin to arias, with clear soloistic writing for the higher voices (Cantus/Tenor). The first four songs form a kind of introductory 'scena', which Monteverdi calls Lamento d'Arianna. A little later, there is a set of 6 songs which he grouped together under the title Sestina. The final song from Lamento d'Arianna tanslates as Ah! Who does not even answer! Ah! Who is deaf to my laments (pleas) Another song of a young man being turned down by his lover. As with all things madrigalian, the lyrics are rife with double entendres. Monteverdi uses some very close dissonances to describe death and release.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256869 Composed by Nicholas White. 21st Century,Christmas,Folk,Singer/Songwriter. Octavo. 8 pages. Nicholas White Music #850256. Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1256869). A gentle setting for chorus and keyboard, rich in melody and harmony, of Dorothy Parker's poem. The things she knew, let her forget again-The voices in the sky, the fear, the cold,The gaping shepherds, and the queer old menPiling their clumsy gifts of foreign gold.Let her have laughter with her little one;Teach her the endless, tuneless songs to sing,Grant her her right to whisper to her sonThe foolish names one dare not call a king.Keep from her dreams the rumble of a crowd,The smell of rough-cut wood, the trail of red,The thick and chilly whiteness of the shroudThat wraps the strange new body of the dead.Ah, let her go, kind Lord, where mothers goAnd boast his pretty words and ways, and planThe proud and happy years that they shall knowTogether, when her son is grown a man.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.869314 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 5 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #2032469. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869314). When the Reed sisters, Elizabeth & Lydia, asked me to write a new work for two pianos, I wasn't quite sure where or how to begin. Then I came upon a book on numerology by Annemarie Schimmel, The Mystery of Numbers. In it I discovered a lot of fascinating things, mystical and magical, associated with each number from one to 10,000. Since I would be writing a piece for a duo, double digits would do the trick. Number 22 stood out. It has two important associations: the Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, and there are 22 major arcana cards or allegories of the Tarot. Perfect! I could write 22 pieces, each a musical rendering of a card.  And, coincidentally, this work will opus 66.For pictorial inspiration, I bought a Pierpont Morgan Library copy of the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards from 15th century Italy. For musical inspiration, I listened to the wonderful salon music of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin, the American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and the Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth. The 22 pieces in the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards are: Zero Il Matto The Fool entertains the gathered guests with a tarantella. I. Il Saltimbanco The Mountebank shuffles his cards and does a samba. II. La Papessa The High Priestess concocts a magic potion. III. L'Imperatrice The Empress dances all night. IV. L'Imperatore The Emperor promenades into the Great Hall and inspects the courtiers. V. Il Papa The Pope makes a proclamation that all sinners will be pardoned. VI. L'Amore Love in a tropical paradise. VII. Il Carro Triumphant in battle, the gladiators ride into town on chariots. VIII. La Giustizia Justice is swift and unrelenting. IX. Il Vecchio The Old Man reminisces. X. La Ruota della Fortuna Fortunes rise and fall unpredictably. XI. La Fortezza Strength and fortitude will prevail. XII. Il Penduto Lamentation for the Hanged Man. XIII. Il Morte Death lurks around the corner. XIV. La Temperanza Temperance in A major. XV. Il Diavolo The Devil seduces with his charm and wit. XVI. La Torre The tower topples and crashes onto the populace gathered below. XVII. La Stella Twinkle, twinkle, little star ... XVIII. La Luna Minuet for moonstruck lovers. XIX Il Sole Sunshine, margaritas and salsa cubana. XX Il Giudizio On the Day of Judgment, the angels blow their trumpets ... XXI. Il Mondo The world would be a happier place if we all dance together. Performance option: Shuffle the 22 allegory cards from the Tarot deck to determine the order of performance.
