Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1425803 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 6 pages. Damien Gauci #1006563. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1425803). This is probably one of my favourite pieces, it really turned out how I wanted it to. The opening bars at the beginning of the piece introduce us to the style of the piece and provide short fragments of the motifs that are to come later in the piece. In bar 9, the main theme of the piece is introduced which is a arpeggiated open-voiced chord starting in the left hand followed by the right hand. That ope-voiced chord is one of my favourite chord voicings as it just has a beautiful airy sound and that’s what I wanted the focus of this piece to be.I wanted to change things up in the middle section as you can hear with the left that takes the melody and the right plays a chordal accompaniment. This is actually a little homage to a piece I learnt on the piano when I was younger, there was a section similar to this that I really liked the style and writing of so I decided to use it in this piece. One last thing, this piece was originally called ‘Cloudy Day’ and it was a standalone piece but I changed the name when I added it to this album to keep it one word like the other pieces.

Choral Choir,Choral - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1182868 By Stuart Richard Brown. By Stuart Richard Brown. Arranged by Stuart Richard Brown. Christian,Easter,Praise and Worship,Religious,Sacred. 12 pages. Stuart Brown Music #782616. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.1182868). Re-published specially for Easter 2023, this is a profoundly beautiful piece for 6-part choir and piano. The composer writes:'On That Cross' is a powerful reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I came up with the lyrics at around 3am in the morning of 3rd December 2014 sitting at a desk in room 703 of the De Syloia Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Often I find that my periods of working abroad give me the space to think of things in new ways. This song is a good example of that. One look at the first page of the score of 'On That Cross' is all you need to realize that this is not a case of a choir singing with a piano accompaniment. I put the piano part above the choir in order to dispel that misconception. So if it's not that, what is it? I wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to approach a subject from two completely different points of view, without either point of view being compromised by the other, and yet the result can nevertheless be a beautiful synergy. That is what the pianist and the choir are doing here. Each is meditating upon the cross of Christ, but from two totally unrelated points of view and yet somehow combining in a way that is almost hypnotically beautifully. There is little obvious relationship between the choir's and the piano's music; and yet each is reconciled to the other ... and there's a very good reason why I wanted the music to speak of such reconciliation. In late 2014 people in Iraq were being beheaded, crucified and generally killed in the most brutal and sadistic manner possible. Their only â??crimeâ?? was to dare to call themselves Christians. You can say what you like but in my book nobody has the right to tell anybody else what they should believe, much less murder them on religious grounds. The thing that incensed me almost to the point of incandescence was that the perpetrators of this unspeakable evil dared to justify their actions by claiming that they were acting on behalf of their god. So in such frame of mind I started to write the lyrics to 'On That Cross'.The first words that came into my mind were â??Oh men who dare to call on gods to justify your hatred â?? of this be sure â?¦â? and I wanted to follow that with threats of eternal damnation, torture in hellfire and so on. Except that the words that flowed out of my fingers onto my computer screen were not like that at all. â??Of this be sure â?? I love you still, my cross your salvation from all the sin of man.â?It doesnâ??t get much more powerful than that. I may be incapable of loving the people of ISIS, ISIL, DAESH or whatever one calls them, but my God isnâ??t. He created them, he sent his Son to die for them â?¦ and he is even now ready to save them, as he is you and me. Thatâ??s grace.A small group of us sang this at a Good Friday united service in 2016. We sang it unannounced, at the end of the service, when one would have expected people to start getting up from their seats and leaving the church. Nobody did. Not one single person moved while we sang..

Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891901 Composed by Dr.Benjamin Robert Papperitz. Arranged by Stephen Davies. Romantic Period. 15 pages. Stephen Davies #3470576. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891901). Using the unusual combination of 3 Soprano's & Tenor, the calm and simplistic opening to this piece gives it its charm, as the close harmonies open up to give any competent group an excercise in restraint. In addition, one of the most difficult things in music is to place staccato notes right on the beat, together, at a slow tempo! A good example of this is 'L'il Darlin' by Basie/Hefti, lots of bands have trouble with the 2 staccato crotchets in the main tune, placing them just so is tricky! Now, this is certainly not jazz, but the principle is the same. Dr.B.R.Papperitz was professor of harmony at the Leipzig Conservetoire from 1851-1868 and was a major influence on the composers of his time, other than that I know very little!

Thomas Oboe Lee #2033629. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869334). YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/user/thomasoboelee/videosWhen the Reed sisters, Elizabeth & Lydia, asked me to write a new work for two pianos, I wasn't quite sure where or how to begin. Then I came upon a book on numerology by Annemarie Schimmel, The Mystery of Numbers. In it I discovered a lot of fascinating things, mystical and magical, associated with each number from one to 10,000. Since I would be writing a piece for a duo, double digits would do the trick. Number 22 stood out. It has two important associations: the Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, and there are 22 major arcana cards or allegories of the Tarot. Perfect! I could write 22 pieces, each a musical rendering of a card.  And, coincidentally, this work will opus 66.For pictorial inspiration, I bought a Pierpont Morgan Library copy of the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards from 15th century Italy. For musical inspiration, I listened to the wonderful salon music of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin, the American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and the Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth. The 22 pieces in the Visconti-Sforza Tarot Cards are: Zero Il Matto The Fool entertains the gathered guests with a tarantella. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1458050 Composed by Domenico Gallo, Giovanni Pergolesi. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Baroque. 39 pages. RayThompsonMusic #1037022. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1458050). Arranged wind quintetThe original baroque music used by Igor Stravinsky for his ballet Pulcinella was originally attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi, as they were so described in a Mr R. Bremner's original 1780 London publication. They were also arranged later by Hugo Riemann, and were again wrongly attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi. However most of the original music is by Domenico Gallo (including the Finale of the suite), one or two are by Giovanni Pergolesi (including the Menuetto)The Pulcinella Suite for small chamber orchestra and 3 vocalists which was derived from the ballet, was written in 1922 and has no vocal parts. This is the original music he used as the basis of the Sinfonia, Scherzino, Gavotte and Variations and the Minuetto/Finale in the Suite. But even though Stravinsky used Gallo's and Pergolesi's melodies and bass lines with little change in the earler movements of the Suite he managed to put his own unmistakable stamp on the music through his use of modern harmonies and occasional rhythmic modifications. However in the Menuetto and Finale he changes things considerably, with more dischordant harmonies and rhythm changes. My arrangement is of the the original pieces and uses Gallo's/Pergolesi's classical/baroque harmonies.Check out my other arrangements of other music used by Stravinsky in his Pulcinella Suite..

Clarinet Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1294597 By Stage Stars. By Clark Gesner. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 6 pages. John Ivor Holland #884949. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1294597). During the early 1960s, Clark Gesner had begun writing songs based on Charles Schulz's Peanuts characters, but was unable to get permission from United Feature Syndicate to use the characters in his songs. Eventually Gesner sent Schulz a demo recording of some of the songs and soon had permission to properly record them, which he did in 1966. At the time, Gesner had no plans for a musical based on this concept album, however, producer Arthur Whitelaw, who would later go on to write another musical based on Peanuts entitled Snoopy! The Musical, encouraged Gesner to turn the album into a musical and it premiered Off-Broadway the following year. This lovely little song comes right at the end of the show, when Charlie Brown realises that today hasn't been so bad, and he's done a lot of things that make him happy; as he expresses what makes him happy, everyone around him, touched by his love of life, begin to express what makes them happy as well. :).

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354717 Composed by Gene De Paul and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 20th Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 8 pages. Martyn Johnson #939414. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1354717). This is an up tempo Stride piano version of Namely You. The song comes from the musical and film 'Li'l Abner' a spoof about hillbillies. It was written in 1956. I take the tune through the 3 keys of Bb, B and C major. The left hand is sometimes a little bit tricky in Stride piano but the tenths can be played in single notes or octaves or can be 'rolled' if the hands are not large enough.I don't include fingering or dynamics in my pieces and prefer to leave these up to the individual pianist as no two piano teachers ever agree on these things. I do include chord symbols as I find these the most useful in learning and memorising music. Many people have recorded this tune including Diana Dors, Carmen Macrae, Sonny Rollins, Fred Hersch etc. It is, though, perhaps less well known than other jazz standards but is nontheless a wonderfully melodic tune. Hope you enjoy my version.
