Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1409334 Composed by Socrates Arvanitakis. 21st Century,Classical,Traditional. 72 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #991958. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1409334). GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕÎΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). In the middle section the main melody will be played in the lower voice and the original guitar contrapuntal voice will be used in the upper voice if by chance it includes invertible counterpoint, otherwise new material will be added to fit the rules but also the intended harmony. The total collection is centred more on the music from mainland Greece and less in that from the Islands. The three dance rhythms of Kalamatianos (7/8), Tsamikos (3/4), and Syrtos Balos (2/4) are predominant in the whole first collection.TECHNICALSeparate parts have been included and they can be extracted as separate files with any free PDF editing programme on line.Empty pages have been added for inclusion/deletion at will and left-right hand page arrangement.Thematic Index with active internal links for ease of navigation have been added.Audio file (mp3) has been addedCONTENTS162 ÎΕΙΑΤΑ ΤΑ (Youth)163 ÎΕΡΑΤΖΟΥΛΑ (Little Bigarade Tree)164 ÎΕΡΟ ΚΑΙ ΚΡΥΑ ΒΡΥΣΗ (Water and Cold Fountain)165 ÎΕΤΑ Η (Neta)166 ÎΙΚΟΤΣΑΡΑΣ Ο (Nikotsaras)167 ÎΟΣΟΚΟΜΑ Η(The Nurse)168 ÎΟΣΤΑΛΓΙΑ (Nostalgia)169 ÎΥΦ' ΑΠΟ ΔΕÎΤΡΙ ΔΙΑΜΑÎΤΙ (Bride from a Diamond Tree)170 ΞΑÎΘΗ Η (The Blonde One)171 ΞΕÎΕ ΣΑ ΘΕΣ ÎΑ ΠΑÎΤΡΕΥΤΕΙΣ (Stranger, If You Want To Get Married)172 Ο ΓΙΑÎΟΣ ΚΙ' Η ΠΑΓΩÎΑ  (Johnny and Pagona)173 Ο ΚΟΣΜΟΣ ΜΕ ΤΑ ΒΑΣΑÎΑ (The World With Its Hardships)174 ΟΙ ΚΛΕΦΤΕΣ ΤΟΥ ΒΑΛΤΟΥ (The Klefts Of The Swamp)175 ΟΛΑ ΤΑ ΠΟΥΛΑΚΙΑ (All The Little Birds)176 ΟΤΑΠΠΕΡÎΑΣ ΓΙΑΤΙ... Choral Choir,Choral - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1182872 By Stuart Richard Brown. By Stuart Richard Brown. Arranged by Stuart Richard Brown. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 1 pages. Stuart Brown Music #782621. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.1182872). The accompanying score and a choral bundle are also available from this website. The composer writes: 'On That Cross' is a powerful reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I came up with the lyrics at around 3am in the morning of 3rd December 2014 sitting at a desk in room 703 of the De Syloia Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Often I find that my periods of working abroad give me the space to think of things in new ways. This song is a good example of that. One look at the first page of the score of 'On That Cross' is all you need to realize that this is not a case of a choir singing with a piano accompaniment. I put the piano part above the choir in order to dispel that misconception. So if it's not that, what is it? I wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to approach a subject from two completely different points of view, without either point of view being compromised by the other, and yet the result can nevertheless be a beautiful synergy. That is what the pianist and the choir are doing here. Each is meditating upon the cross of Christ, but from two totally unrelated points of view and yet somehow combining in a way that is almost hypnotically beautifully. There is little obvious relationship between the choir's and the piano's music; and yet each is reconciled to the other ... and there's a very good reason why I wanted the music to speak of such reconciliation. In late 2014 people in Iraq were being beheaded, crucified and generally killed in the most brutal and sadistic manner possible. Their only ‘crime’ was to dare to call themselves Christians. You can say what you like but in my book nobody has the right to tell anybody else what they should believe, much less murder them on religious grounds. The thing that incensed me almost to the point of incandescence was that the perpetrators of this unspeakable evil dared to justify their actions by claiming that they were acting on behalf of their god. So in such frame of mind I started to write the lyrics to 'On That Cross'.The first words that came into my mind were “Oh men who dare to call on gods to justify your hatred – of this be sure …†and I wanted to follow that with threats of eternal damnation, torture in hellfire and so on. Except that the words that flowed out of my fingers onto my computer screen were not like that at all. “Of this be sure – I love you still, my cross your salvation from all the sin of man.â€It doesn’t get much more powerful than that. I may be incapable of loving the people of ISIS, ISIL, DAESH or whatever one calls them, but my God isn’t. He created them, he sent his Son to die for them … and he is even now ready to save them, as he is you and me. That’s grace.A small group of us sang this at a Good Friday united service in 2016. We sang it unannounced, at the end of the service, when one would have expected people to start getting up from their seats and leaving the church. Nobody did. Not one single person moved while we sang..

5 saxophones (SAATBar) - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q40419 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Albert Loritz. This edition: score and parts. Quintett - Saxophon - Tänze. Downloadable, Score and parts. Advance Music GmbH - Digital #Q40419. Published by Advance Music GmbH - Digital (S9.Q40419). Key: G minor. German.Brahms’ Hungarian Dances are among the most popular compositions in the field of light classical music with dance no. 5 probably being the most well-known one of the altogether 21 pieces of the cycle. It is this dance the arrangement for saxophone quintet at hand is based on. Answers to the questions to what extent Brahms incorporated traditional Hungarian melodies into these pieces or whether the dances represent original creations of his own written in a “Hungarian style†might be found in specialist literature or on the internet. These sources may also be consulted to get further information on the history of origins of these compositions. The original version of the Fifth Hungarian Dance for Piano Four-Hands published in 1869 is written in F# minor. For most of the arrangements (for orchestra and for any other conceivable type of ensemble) created thereafter in rapid succession - but also for this present version written for saxophone quartet – the key of G minor was chosen. The markings for tempo and dynamics included are based on the original composition but also take into account certain performance practices. The individual voices take turns in executing the main melody. The brackets appearing in the score and in the individual parts mark the beginning and the end of those passages where the respective instrument takes the lead. The arrangement for quintet at hand can be performed soloistically or in chorus.

The longing for love is getting bigger and bigger.Tarinaltaan hieman alakuloinen tango, jonka Tapio Säyppö kirjoitti Keravalla torstaina 10.2.1994. Kaveri on laulanut pienestä saakka. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255098 Composed by Ross Fiddes. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 25 pages. Ross Fiddes #848692. Published by Ross Fiddes (A0.1255098). It was in the aftermath of the 2020 summer bushfires in Australia that soprano Ayse Goknur Shanala rang me from Cyprus to suggest I compose a work about climate change, a subject of concern for me.  My research for lyrics did not elicit anything I considered suitable, so I turned to Derek Dowding, a local poet, singer, actor, raconteur, and a person vitally interested in the future of humanity and of the planet.Derek and I had worked together before – he brilliantly performed the role of Abelard in the workshopping and concert performances of my hybrid opera “Abelard and Heloiseâ€, which, in 1997, won the supreme CONDA (City of Newcastle Drama Award)  for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Newcastle Theatre’ against some 200 other stage productions in Newcastle’s bi-centenary year.Derek worked long and late on the lyrics for the work, producing an emotional document covering history, cause and effect.  His words produced musical responses from me which I consider react appropriately to both his words and the subject matter. I hope our listeners will agree. For the musical treatment I had to consider that the length of the work, through-sung, 20+ minutes, required a recurrent grounding to avoid too many thematic ideas getting in the way of the words.  To that end, I created a quasi-reflective section which appears, rondo-style, quite a few times during the length of the piece.  And, for further cohesion, I built an ABA (ternary) section early to address certain word structures.  Mostly, the various sections followed the stanza structure provided by Derek, with some combinations.  My musical style is essentially melodic, but with dramatic and other episodes, be they tonal, astringent, harmonically indecisive and so on.  In building the work I was principally influenced by the impact and flow of the words. The work is quite mammoth for both the singer and the pianist.  I was absolutely delighted that Anna Fraser again premiered a work of mine – in 2015 she marvellously premiered another major composition of mine, reviewed here:  http://soundslikesydney.com.au/reviews/concert-review-the-man-in-the-other-roomacacia-quartetanna-fraser/19830.htmlWe can only hope that the new work ultimately adds to the chorus of warnings and concern about the climactic future that awaits if we continue to ignore or postpone dramatic and urgent attention to addressing the causes of climate change.A living orb cloaked white and blue and greenRevolving and evolving, tight-hugged in orbit flightWe ride her back; dependent, fragile offspring.Suckling all the while …but have we bonded?A world unlike any other world we’ve seenGifted with Water, Air, Earth and perfect Light. The essentials of life. Freely, these gifts she brings.Free for all but how have we responded?                                                                     Poem© 2020 Derek DowdingRoss FiddesJanuary 2023.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.910805 By Britney Spears. By Cathy Dennis, Christian Karlsson, Henrik Jonback, and Pontus Winnberg. Arranged by Matias Reimondez. Film/TV. Score and parts. 18 pages. Reimale #6491615. Published by Reimale (A0.910805). An original arrangement meant to exploit the possibilities of the string quartet, wich will blend very well given the synthetized strings that the original song already has.Toxic is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears, for her fourth studio album, In the Zone (2003). It was written and produced by Bloodshy & Avant, with additional writing from Cathy Dennis and Henrik Jonback. Released as the second single from In the Zone, the song was initially offered to Kylie Minogue for her album Body Language, but she turned it down. After trying to choose between (I Got That) Boom Boom and Outrageous to be the second single, Spears selected Toxic instead. A dance-pop and techno-pop song with elements of bhangra music, Toxic features varied instrumentation, such as drums, synthesizers and surf guitar. It is accompanied by high-pitched Bollywood strings, sampled from Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam's Tere Mere Beech Mein (1981), and breathy vocals. Its lyrics draw an extended metaphor of a lover as a dangerous yet addictive drug.

Solo Trumpet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.PDP092 Composed by Verne Reynolds. Score. 12 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #PDP092. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.PDP092). 9 x 12 inches.Solus was commissioned by Mark Ponzo for inclusion on a compact disc devoted to trumpet music by Reynolds. He had been coached by Reynolds in a brass quintet for several years while a graduate student at the Eastman School of Music and has always had tremendous respect for Reynolds as a performer and composer. Ponzo requested that the piece exploit the range of timbres available from various instruments and so the work uses five different horns (trumpets in C, B-flat, and E-flat; flugelhom, and B-flat comet). Ponzo premiered Solus on a recital on 12 March 1995 and subsequently recorded it on The Trumpet Music of Verne Reynolds (Mark 4843-MCD). The composer commented that Solus does not have to be performed in its entirety. N.B. Reynolds stated in the holograph of Solus that all the movements are notated in concert pitch.
