This arrangement of a popular, high-energy song by Panic at the Disco is written for any treble instrument.  The lowest note is D beside Middle C, so would work for a wide range of instruments, including flute, violin, clarinet, saxophone (soprano or alto) or trumpet.  It begins with a strong beat with the introduction, then includes the chorus which is repeated throughout the song, one verse, ending with the chorus and then the fun beats of the introduction.  The notes cover a wide range, especially in the verse, so this song is more suitable for a skilled player (intermediate level).  However the introduction and chorus part would be suitable for elementary level students. This arrangement would also be fun to use in a group setting with older students with handbells, Orff instruments or Boomwhackers.   See also my Easy Piano version, which also would be suitable for handbells or Boomwhackers.

This easy arrangement is written for early elementary level students yet in a fun way that captures the essence of the original piece.  Using one hand at a time, it starts in the bass and then moves up the piano to the treble and high treble.  The dynamics start softly in the bass at the beginning and then as it moves up the piano it goes to forte and fortissimo.  Written using slower notes, it makes the song easier for the early elementary student to read.  Larger font and bright colours were also used to add to the ease of reading and to make the song fun to play.  This song is certain to be a favourite with the students!

Thumbs Up for Ice Cream! is a fun exercise for students to use to learn to differentiate between using the Treble Clef Thumb and the Bass Clef Thumb for Middle C.  The entire song is written on Middle C, using half notes and quarter notes.  When I teach this song, I make it into a game with my students.  On half notes they say ice cream to feel the 2 beats and on quarter notes they say scoop.  Once they master the song using the correct rhythm words and thumbs, they then have to challenge the members of their family to do it.  The kids love getting their family members and sometimes even their friends to do it.  This is a simple song, but packed full of fun!

I hope that caught your attention!  Just like the Cows Eat Grass song was to help beginner students to learn the spaces of  C Position in the bass clef, Dog Food is designed to help remember the two lines in that position: D and F! I found that teaching the lines of the bass clef as Good Boys Deserve Fudge Always was always being confused with Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.  So with the help of some of my first students, we came up with the saying, Grandma Buys Dog Food Always because Grandma's puppy needs to be fed and Grandpa is out tending the cows (who eat grass!).  So the lines we use in C Position are Dog and Food.  Just as in Cows Eat Grass we had visual cues in each space, Dog Food uses a picture of a dog and a picture of his food for each note.  Students have great fun with the different combination of notes and rhythms and will have an easy time remembering the names of these two lines.

This beginner piano piece is the shortened version of the song C D E Just for Me.  It is designed to introduce the youngest beginner students to their first three notes on the treble staff using the Middle C position.  This should be the first song that they learn from my instructional songs.  Using large font with bright colours, lyrics and fingering, new beginners will easily learn this song.  It uses quarter and half notes for the rhythms for easy reading.  If a student needs more assistance distinguishing between the notes on the staff, I will highlight each note head a different colour depending on the pitch.For older beginner students, I recommend using the full version of the song C D E Just for Me instead.  It is also available for purchase. .
