Bassoon Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018949 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078683. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018949). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  â€ƒThe second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. Plumptre, Henry van Dyke, and Lugwig Van Beethoven. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Baroque,Classical,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 16 pages. Sharon Wilson #654808. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.1050453). Here is a fun and upbeat instrumental trio arrangement (for VIOLIN and CELLO duet with PIANO accompaniment) of the classic hymn Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven. This quick-paced arrangement will brighten the hearts of the listeners as they are reminded of the lyrics penned by Henry Van Dyke: Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love… The piano sets the mood with a cheerful introduction using the chorus of Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart by Arthur H. Messiter. This introductory chorus is interspersed throughout the arrangement creating a medley of these two joyful hymns and is especially enjoyed during the Thanksgiving holiday season. The VIOLIN plays the melody for the first verse and then the CELLO leads with the melody for the second verse. The song begins in the key of G major and then transitions to the key of D major for the second verse. The range for each part is as follows: VIOLIN – D4 to F#5; CELLO – A2 to C#4. All notes for both the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position making this arrangement an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. The PIANO accompaniment is written for an intermediate player. The purchase price includes these printing options: 1. a grand staff (7 pages) with all parts on each page2. separate scores for the VIOLIN and CELLO (1 page each) and PIANO (3 pages)3. a combined VIOLIN and CELLO score (2 pages) This hymn represents JOY and is one of the 10 songs in the collection inspired by Galatians 5:22-23: The Fruit of the Spirit (10 Hymns for Violin and Cello Duet with Piano Accompaniment) Visit Sharon Wilson's website: www.SharonWilsonMusic.comSubscribe to her YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/SharonWilsonMusic

Music Preparation Services #5899717. Published by Music Preparation Services (A0.908413). Minka, Minka (Concert Band - Grade 2)Traditional; arr. John M. LicariMusic Preparation Serviceswww.musicprepservices.comMinka, Minka had derived from the Ukrainian folk tune Ikhav Kozak za Dunaj and was written by Semen Klimovski.  Many composers had adapted this tune for their works, notably Ludwig van Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber.  This arrangement tries to capture the Eastern European feel that one may characterize (or caricaturize).      This arrangement started off as an assignment while taking Composing and Arranging for School Bands with Dr. Scott Watson (Alfred, Hal Leonard, Wingert-Jones) at Central Connecticut State University in the summer of 2014.    Minka, Minka is arranged in band-friendly C-harmonic minor.  A few items to remember:    - Upper winds have a minor second trill on concert Ab to A?  - The section starting at 53 should be played as delicate as one would allow.  - The section starting at 69 should appear to gain momentum.  - The section starting at 88 should be equal or stronger than it has first appeared.

This is an exclusive MP3 music audio program personally designed and developed in which Player 1 plays along with a music audio track for Player 2. To be sure, The Beethoven Scherzi Duets for Flute are a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. It is my deep felt personal belief that these Scherzi will bring you great pleasure and long lasting satisfaction. Joe Procopio AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio Because of the complexities, range and sonorities inherent in all of the Beethoven Symphonies, it may seem impossible to transcribe any one movement as a duet that is true to the composer. Nevertheless, I believe these duets contain the heart, soul and essence of Beethoven’s melodies, rhythms and expressions; even though these works are tiny when they are compared to the Master’s great musical creations which have no equal. In fact, there is no comparison. However, my sincere hope is that since I have rendered some of Beethoven’s music as duets, his music is now more readily available to all permitting a greater number of musicians and all the people who hear their performances to come to know and love a bit of the world’s most valuable, breathtaking and beautiful music. In truth, Beethoven’s music has stood the test of time. He astonished people in his day whenever he performed his music or had his music played. He still does today. To be sure, his music has enhanced and enriched the lives of many of us for over 200 years. In performing and listening to these Scherzi you will find the whole of each work a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. Few composers have been able to write down on paper music of such incredible beauty that it reflects the awesome splendor of God’s creation. What comes to mind immediately is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6. It has been said, that much of his music mirrors not only the magnificence of God’s creation but also the radiance of God the Creator himself. In any event, this music is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. A joy to listen to and to play. I know and can safely say without any hesitation or reservations that this collection will bring you much enjoyment.
