Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1427014

Composed by Gail M. Luley. Christian,Classical,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. 6 pages. Gail M Luley #1007734. Published by Gail M Luley (A0.1427014).

This anthem, scored for SATB and piano sets the poem by Emily Dickinson to music. Dickinson’s poem presents humanity’s hunger to know the truth about the existence of an afterlife. Many people believe, but also doubt that something exists beyond death, invisible as music, but just as real as sound. This “other world” invites us to come closer, but confounds us, leading to the tension between faith and doubt. Faith stumbles, and no drug can numb the toothache of doubt. The anthem ends as it begins, with the conviction, the faith, that our time on earth isn’t all there is.

The piano accompaniment can serve however needed, just for rehearsal purposes, or when and where it might be needed during a performance.

Composed by Gustavo Fuentes. Arranged by Gustavo Fuentes. Celtic,Folk,Holiday,New Age,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. Gustavo Fuentes #3637513. Published by Gustavo Fuentes (A0.900403).

Ivory Angel. Celtic music song composed by Gustavo Fuentes, arranged for three voices. Two melody instruments, such as tin whistle, low whistle, flute, recorder, piano or violin, and low voice like cello or bass, with chords for piano or guitar. The audio is from to the Gustavo Fuentes CD Almas en vuelo that you can listen to on Spotify.
The Celtics strongly believed in the elements of nature. They believed that animals, plants and even rocks had a life and a spirit. And they considered trees to be the most important elements. Trees symbolized life: the roots were in the Underworld, the branches in the Otherworld and the trunk in the Middle Earth. Trees gave the Celtics wood to build homes and weapons and to shelter them from the cold. They also shielded them from the sun with their shadow. Trees gave them fruit to eat and they lodged birds, the messengers of the Gods, in their branches. Trees protected people’s spirits and so each person was assigned a sacred tree according to their date of birth.
Even today we still have spirits and objects that protect us. In the case of artists, their own art is often their protector. The title of this song refers to the ivory angel, the piano, however, this song is dedicated to all the instruments that help us express ourselves and prevent us from being lonely, silent or forgotten.

Perfect for a school Father's Day ceremony, uplifting lyrics, intermediate keyboard part.

Lyrics
Can't you understand you're number one?
Important as the moonshine, essential as the sun
that shines so bright when we're together
I hate when we're apart
You're in my soul forever, the father of my heart.
You're in my soul forever, the father of my heart.

Can't you understand you matter more
than any other person, it's you I'm searching for
amongst the crowded rows of people
at the finish and the start.
I'll look to you forever, the father of my heart.
I'll look to you forever, the father of my heart.

Chorus
It's not too late. It's not too late.
It's not too late we've got the day together.
It's not too late I don't care 'bout the weather.
It's not too late and some day when we're older
my baby sitting on your shoulder
I hope I'm wonderin' if she feels the same.

Don't you understand it's not too late
To throw out your 'to-do' list and to celebrate
a Happy Father's Day together
this year's our brand new start.
Do you hear my wishes, the father of my heart.
Do you hear my wishes, the father of my heart.

Composed by Zebulon M. Highben. Lent, Funeral, Tenebrae. Instrument part. 8 pages. Duration 4 minutes, 30 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8705-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8705-E).

Latin. John 1:5.

The text of Lux in tenebris—a single verse from the prologue to the gospel of John—was chosen in conjunction with the commissioning party, who requested a sacred text with universal appeal that could address the hopes and fears that all people share. The composition elaborates on the text's juxtaposition between the darkness of despair and the light of hope. Dissonant, layered ostinati built on fragments of the text illustrate the omnipresent darkness (mm. 1-25). The second half of the piece (m. 29ff.) changes key and meter, employing the entire text to emphasize the persistent shining and eternal triumph of the light. Duration: 4:30
Lux in tenebris was premiered in December 2016 by the Chamber Singers of First Community Church (Columbus, Ohio) at the church’s annual Candlelight Christmas concert, and reprised for the Holy Week Tenebrae service in April 2017.

By Gabriel Lagos. By Gabriel Lagos. Arranged by Gabriel Lagos. 19th Century,21st Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 12 pages. Lagos Music #850130. Published by Lagos Music (A0.1256758).

It's kind of cool that I've finished an entire four-movement sonata! It's also kind of cool how people can watch my progress as I improve as a composer over time. I hope you enjoy this one.

I think this is my best work so far, but I'm curious what others think! Inspiration for this piece came from the Rondo in Mozart's Concerto in E Flat for two pianos and his Finale in Symphony 40 (which I think is a Rondo as well), and all the Bach harpsichord concertos. Why is the cadenza in the style of a Bolero, I hear you ask? Well, it's hinting at a future work. With this Sonata, I set the intention of four movements: sonata-allegro, minuet/trio, funeral march, rondo. For the next work, the intention is a Latin Suite which will consist of a romance, tango, and milonga. That may change, but that's my idea so far and I didn't want to forget that theme...so I put it in the cadenza of this sonata!

I will record a more live version of the full sonata on one of the University Of Victoria's Steinways soon.

My dream is to write for orchestra, but for now I'll be using piano works as practice and maybe, just maybe, one day I'll find a way to compose for orchestra. I used to want to write for film but I'm now realizing I may want to write for the classical world, instead.

This would be an absolute dream come true.

Thank you,

Gabe.

By W. Luke Kelly. By W. Luke Kelly. 20th Century,Contest,Festival,Traditional. Score and parts. 28 pages. W. Luke Kelly #778901. Published by W. Luke Kelly (A0.1178931).

On the Moors is a free form, free tempo piece, meant to evoke a walk through green hills and a cool breeze.

Begin the piece with confidence, but calmly.

The piano player should be the highlight of the piece, but give room for some spotlights to the woodwinds and strings at times. Observe the fermatta at m. 14 with a great amount of anticipation, perhaps even a few beats of silence.

Allow the audience to lean in as they reach for the next note, then bring in the new key at m. 15 with purposeful steps into the next motif. Observe molto rit and poco rit sections to take as much time as the Director wishes, and consider the entire piece espressivo with overtones of warmth, as in sunlit rolling hills during an early Spring afternoon.

Composer's Note:

This piece is dedicated to the beauty of the State of Ohio, whose open fields, beautiful rolling hills, and warm sun have become my home, and to it's people, who are as warm and welcoming as any American community could ever be.

Composed by Elizabeth Raum. Chamber,Contemporary. 36 pages. Gordon Cherry #804638. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1206435).

Below are the program notes for Illusion for Trumpet, Bass Trombone & Piano by Elizabeth Raum.

Illusion, is a general commentary to the fact that life is mysterious and generally, uncertain, constantly shifting. We try to influence what happens but usually, outside forces determine the direction of our lives. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between illusion and reality, and, in fact, often people much prefer illusion to reality.

Mv. 1 - Illusion starts out with an obscure time signature and is constantly shifting tonalities so for a while, you aren’t quite sure where you are. Life is full of such deceptions.

Mv. 2 - Fill the Wine Cup is a series of drinking songs with a lot of gayety and rollocking humour as the party gets more raucous, but eventually things get a little blurry and bombastic and the party winds down. The trombone, due to its ability to imitate drunken reeling with glissandos, is often cast in this role.

M. 3 - Destiny seems to march on and on, with mankind hoping to control their future, but the implication is that fate is more powerful than one can control.

M. 4 - The ultimate illusion: a Political Debate. The trombone starts out as the first candidate, and the saxophone is the other. The music is circus-like as befits many heated debates.

Illusion was commissioned by Lucas Kaspar and JD Little. The original version was written for Alto Sax and Bass Trombone

The work of about 10 minutes in length is appropriate for advanced performers and may also be performed on a Trombone with an f-attachment.

This work can be performed on a Trombone with an f-attachment and is appropriate for advanced performers.
